Beca woke up to an empty bed, but she found a note from Jesse on his pillow. Went to work, babe. I didn't want to wake you. Text me when you're up. Love you.
She smiled. "Well," she said to herself. "Time to go make some coffee."
She got up and made some coffee before Chloe popped in. "hey, I'm going to take Emily to work, and then I'll probably run to the store. Text me if you need anything."
"Wait, Chlo, you want some coffee?"
Chloe popped her head through the door. "Decaf?"
"Obviously."
"Sure."
"Does Emily want some?"
"She only drinks tea."
Beca handed her a travel mug of coffee and got an instant tea out of the cabinet. She handed her a cup of tea. There ya go. Drive safe."
"Gosh, you're such a mom, see ya!" Chloe said as walked out the door.
Beca sat quietly and drank her coffee until Harper woke up after about a half hour. She got Harper up and dressed when she got a call from Chloe.
Hey Chl-
Beca, how fast can you get to the hospital?
Beca recognized Erin's voice. Dr. Erin. What's wrong?
It's Chloe and Emily? I think. The young one. They were in a car wreck.
Are they ok?
We don't know yet. Chloe's in pretty bad shape.
Um....ok....I-I'll b-be over s-soon. Thanks Erin.
Beca hung up the call and called Harper over to her. Harper noticed right away that Beca was crying. "What's wrong, Mommy."
"Get your shoes on, we gotta go to the hospital, Chloe and Emily were in an accident."
Harper obeyed her mom and climbed into the car. Beca started the engine and put Anna on speaker phone.
Hey
I'm on my way to the hospital, did you get the news?
Yep, I'm so scared.
Me too.
Ok, well I'm gonna go now before I break down in tears again.
Lucky, I haven't had time to, I've been trying to keep it together for Harper.
Beca pulled into the hospital and went inside with Harper following. She went up to the front desk. "Hi, I was called that my two friends were in an accident. Do you have any news?"
The lady smiled. "We'll send someone out to speak with you."
Erin came out a few minutes later and gave a hug to Beca. "Ok, so Emily is ok. A few things are broken, but she's ok. No head trauma or anything. She's asleep, but you can see her. Chloe's still in surgery. She's in pretty bad shape. All I know is her heart stopped and they had to restart it, but it's not looking too good. I'll let you know when you can see her."
Beca started crying again. "Ok, thanks Erin."
Erin smiled. "Everything's gonna be ok. I'll keep you extra updated, even if I'm not supposed to because I know how close you two are."
"Thanks so much, so what room is Emily in?"
"46."
"Ok thanks so much Erin."
