Beca, for once woke up first, and she realized it was Chloe's birthday. "Shit," she cursed quietly, trying not to wake Chloe. She ran to the art supply closet, still in her slippers, which was a mistake. She slipped on the floor, and there was a huge thud.

"Beca," Chloe called from her room, "are you ok?"

"Yeah I'm fine. It's like two in the morning, I was just getting some water, and I slipped but I'm fine don't worry I promise." she quickly lied, running into Chloe's room and pulling her blankets up and running out of the room.

"Ok." Chloe said, half asleep.

Beca ran back to the supply closet, this time, barefoot. "Thank god," she whispered to herself, pulling out old streamers and balloons. She hung up the streamers, grabbed her bag and keys, and quietly slipped out of the house. She ran to Target to get a banner, cake, a card, and a cute dress that she thought Chloe would like. It was already 9, so she texted Anna.

Hey, so if I were to come over and pick you up in like ten minutes, would you be ready?

Yeah. I'm already dressed. I just have to do my hair. Why?

Chloe's birthday completely slipped my mind, and I know she would want you there for the surprise.

Ok. Pick me up in ten minutes.

K bye.

Beca drove to Anna's house and walked in. She was almost done with her makeup, and she had her hair in a sock bun. "My Anna, gorgeous as always," Beca giggled. "You get so dressed up for everything. I still don't have any makeup on."

Anna grabbed her eyeliner off the counter. "Close your eyes, Beca," she smiled. Beca closed her eyes and Anna did her makeup. Then she pulled another donut bun maker out of the drawer, and she threw Beca's hair into a ponytail. She twisted the bun and secured it with a ponytail holder. "There," she said, spinning Beca around.

Beca looked in the mirror. "You're a genius."

"Thanks. I went to school to be a beautician, but when I married Ben, I quit because we were looking for a house. I was going to get a new job, but then there was the deal with my leg and I don't know if I want to anymore." Anna glanced down. "Can you hand me my crutches. I'm wearing the boot, but I still don't feel like my leg is strong enough to walk."

Beca handed Anna the crutches. "You gotta step out of your comfort a little bit, or you're never going to go back to normal."

"I'll work on it. I at least want them with me."

"Ok. Let's go."

Anna walked out behind Beca, and she slowly walked down the front steps. "See, you're already making progress." Beca smiled at her friend as she got into the car.

"How do you know Chloe's not up yet?" Anna asked.

"I slipped on the floor this morning, and she woke up. I had to tell her it was 2 in the morning. I set her clock back too."

"Oh my gosh. You're so funny." Anna giggled as they pulled into the driveway. Anna got out of the car and limped to the door. "I'm just gonna leave my crutches in the car."

"Ok, you should be fine." Beca quietly opened the door. They slipped in. "Try not to make too much noise," Beca whispered.

"It might be kind of difficult with this thing being 100 times louder than my regular step," Anna quietly giggled.

Beca started hanging up the banner and blowing up balloons. Anna opened the cake box and and put it on a platter. She took some frosting and wrote Happy Birthday To Our Best Friend Chloe in all caps. Beca signed the card from her and Anna because Anna couldn't go out and get her a present.

Chloe walked out of her room. "Surprise!!!" Beca and Anna yelled.

"Aww, you guys!" Chloe smiled.

Anna walked over to Chloe and gave her a hug. "Yay! You can walk now!!" Chloe was so excited.

"What do you want to do today?" Beca asked. "We'll do anything you want."

"Let's go for manicures," Chloe said, looking at her nails. "I suck at painting my nails."

"Ooh that sounds fun!" Anna said, cutting the cake into slices. She handed a slice to Chloe. "How does cake for breakfast sound?"

"Amazing," Chloe sing-songed in a high pitched voice. She was so thankful that her friends were there for you. Anna handed a piece of cake to Beca, got herself a piece, and the girls sat together on the couch. Chloe turned on the tv. She put on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

"You watch this horse shit?" Anna asked, laughing.

"Of course," Beca laughed. "It's our guilty pleasure."

After the girls finished their cake, Chloe brushed out her hair, and she put makeup on. "Let's go get our manicures!" Chloe said.
