When Chloe woke up, Beca was still asleep, and she decided to let her sleep. After she fed the baby, she took her to Starbucks to pick up coffee for Beca. The cashier was so cute with Harper. "Aww your daughter is so cute!"
"Thanks so much, but she's my niece. Her mommy was still asleep, and this is probably the most sleep she'll get."
"What's her name?"
"Harper. She named her after my middle name. I thought that was so sweet."
"Aww that's so sweet. Tell you what, the coffees on the house. You look exhausted."
"Aww that's so nice of you. Thanks!" Chloe took the coffees and went back home, waking up Beca.
"Chlo, you didn't have to do that! Thanks."
"I figured you could need it, and this is also a pre-apology for what I did."
"What did you do."
"You'll find out later."
"Chloe..."
"Beca, you'll find out later. Just eat and work on your mix."
Beca put her headphones on and sat Harper down next to her.
Chloe answered the door for Jesse, and he sat down next to Beca. She didn't notice because of her music. He pulled the headphones off of her, and she turned to face him. "Beca," he said.
"Jesse?"
"Is this my beautiful baby girl?"
"Yeah." Beca handed him the baby, to shocked to speak. She wasn't sure how to feel about this.
"What's her name, Becs?"
"Harper Jade"
"That's beautiful."
"Thanks. What are you doing here?"
"Chloe called me and said how sad you were that Harper wasn't going to know me, and I couldn't let that happen. I was too upset to see the birth of my child, over a stupid fight that tore our relationship apart. I had to see her, even if you don't want me back, I want to be a part of her life."
"Jess that's sweet, but I don't know."
"You know she looks just like you. Gorgeous, with an amazing smile and amazing eyes."
"Thanks Jesse. It's just, I don't know, I don't want to have to explain to her why we're apart."
"Becs, at some point, she's going to wonder why she's living with her mom's best friend, and why she doesn't remember her dad."
"And I'll explain it when she asks."
"Can we start over Becs?"
"It's too late, Jess. I can't start over with a child. I can't get hurt again. Harper needs me. I need to be there for her, and I can't do that if I'm upset again."
"Ok. I love you Becs, and I'm always here if you need anything. Love you my baby girl,"
"Bye Jess."
Beca burst into tears the minute he walked out the door. Chloe took the baby from her arms, and Beca ran to her room and cried. Chloe played with Harper for two hours until she started to cry. "Harper sweetie, momma needs some time to herself." Chloe tried to calm her down, but nothing worked. "Ok, we can try to talk to momma."
Chloe stepped into Beca's room, and sat down on the bed. "Your daughter was crying for you."
Beca took the baby and laid her down next to her. She hugged the baby and cried for ten minutes with Chloe sitting quietly next to her. "Chlo, I can't do this anymore."
"Beca, I'm sorry. I thought this is what you wanted."
"I didn't prepare myself for this. He wants me back, and I don't want him. What am I supposed to do."
"Don't take him back."
"I don't want to hurt him."
"Becs, after all he did to you, you're hardly hurting him. He should be ashamed of what he put you through. Don't feel guilty over this. You should be happy. You have a beautiful daughter, a great support system, and a good home."
"Two of those things had to be given to me. It doesn't count."
"It counts if your fiancé leaves you with nothing except a baby girl. You have to let people help you out."
"I know but I feel like I'm a burden."
"How on earth would you be a burden?"
"I'm living in YOUR house, eating YOUR food, and taking up YOUR space. I feel like you watch my daughter more than I do."
"You're going through a lot right now. And you pay for food, and this was originally our house. It's no trouble at all."
"I'm going to start paying my dues. I'll move out as soon as I can find and afford a place, and you'll never have to watch Harper."
"Becs, she's my niece, and you're practically my sister. We hang out all the time anyway, why don't you just stay here. Half the rent, half the bills. Please stay."
"I have to think about it, Chlo."
Beca's crying had slowed down when Anna walked through the door. "Hey Becs, I got you something." Anna handed her the bag.
"Chocolate?"
"Yeah I got your favorite. I thought you could use some cheering up."
"Thanks Anna. That was really thoughtful of you."
"Becs, just sit and relax, and Chlo and I will take care of Harper."
"No, it's ok, I'll just eat later."
"Becs, you're under so much stress right now, just relax for five minutes."
"Ok." Beca said sitting down.
Anna took Harper from Chloe's arms and started talking. "Hi, my sweetie pie. You're auntie Anna will take care of you. And your auntie Chloe can get some chores done while your mommy relaxes. Becs, where's the stroller, I'll take her for a walk."
"Shit that's what we forgot to buy."
"It's ok, I'll buy one, consider it a baby shower present since you didn't get to have one."
"No, you don't have to..."
Anna cut her off. "Becs, you deserve it. I'll have Ben go out and buy one tonight. I'll just carry her."
I'm
"Anna, it's ok. I swear to god after this concert tomorrow, I'll be able to afford a house. I think I can afford a stroller.""Fine," Anna said. She was going to buy one anyway. "Do you need me to watch Harper while you perform?"
"I'll have you and Chlo backstage with her."
"Ok. Just relax Becs. We'll handle everything."
Beca sat down and turned on football, while Anna took Harper for a walk, and Chloe cleaned the house. She was happy to relax for a few hours.
