When the girls got to the movie, the only thing playing was The Gift. Beca had seen the trailer and thought it looked cool, but Chloe was scared. She was so scared, she didn't want to sit in front, but Beca couldn't get up the stairs. Beca glanced up at Chloe. "I can't sit in front, I'll get a headache."
"I can't get you up the stairs. What are we gonna do? I'm so scared of this I have to sit in the back."
"I'll jump up the stairs."
"Are you sure. I don't want you to get hurt. You're still recovering. To be honest, you should probably be at home in bed."
"I'm fine. We both can't sit up front. I'll just use you for balance."
"Fine, Becs, but be careful," Chloe said, putting her arm around Beca as she got out of the wheelchair. Beca carefully hopped up each step until they got to the top row. Beca sat down in the corner, and Chloe went to get snacks. "I'm getting popcorn and candy. What do you want?" She asked.
"Reese's pieces."
"Obviously the same as me," Chloe smiled. "What do you want to drink?"
"Anythings fine with me."
"Ok," Chloe said, walking down the stairs.
Beca got bored, so she pulled out her phone to find a text from Jesse.
Hey. I thought I'd stop by to see how you were doing before I flew back.
What time? Chloe and I are at a movie?
Does 6 work?
Yeah. We should be home by then. We'll make you dinner.
Thanks. How are you feeling?
I'm doing ok. I had a headache and I took some aspirin, and my ankle is killing me. It's badly bruised. I took off the bandage last night before I went to bed. I'm gonna go home and ice it. My wrist is actually ok. I think the pain went away while I was asleep.
Oh ok. I hope you feel better sweetie. Better let you get back to that movie.
Love you.
Love you too. Bye. ❤️
Beca smiled like an idiot at her phone. Jesse was such a softie, and he turned her into one too.
Chloe came back, handing Beca Reese's pieces and a Pepsi. "Here ya go!" She said perkily. "Texting Jesse?" Chloe knew that smile.
"Yeah," Beca said with a sheepish smile. "He's such a dork. Can I pay you for the candy?"
"Becs, it's fine. Relax." Chloe rolled her eyes. They were best friends. She had no problem spending ten dollars on Beca, especially after what she had been through.
"Jesse's coming over for dinner tonight. We should stop at the store to make something."
"Ok."
Chloe was scared within two minutes of the movie starting. Beca stayed pretty calm until the super scary stuff happened. Chloe was basically attached to her the whole time. Beca grabbed onto Chloe a few times, but she stayed surprisingly calm. Chloe even had to run out of the theater a few times. Beca would have if she could have. She really couldn't move at all. Her ankle was killing her.
After the movie, Chloe helped Beca down the stairs. It was more difficult because chloe was shaking the whole time. When they finally got to the bottom, Beca collapsed in the chair, out of breath. "I wish I could just walk on my effing ankle." Beca was really annoyed that she couldn't walk on it, but it hurt without her putting weight on it.
"Beca, you can't risk hurting it more. We'll put ice on it when we get home. I want you to rest."
"Fine, it just hurts. I'm not dying."
"I still want you to rest."
Beca smiled. She had the best friend in the world. She would probably always listen to her because chloe was more responsible and she knew what was best. Chloe stopped at Target to get the food for dinner. "Do you want to come in? You can stay in the car if you want."
"Yeah I'll come in."
"You're such a fighter," Chloe laughed. "I wouldn't leave my bed if I were you. Like you seriously just got out of a coma yesterday, and you're acting like normal Beca. I'm so proud to call you my best friend."
Beca laughed. "I just want to forget that I'm in so much pain right now. That movie scared the shit out of me. I forgot I was in pain for a few hours. Hanging out with you makes feel better, not just in this situation but I can be In the worst mood, and just talking to you makes me feel better."
Chloe smiled as she helped her friend into the wheelchair. "Thanks, Becs, it means a lot."
The girls walked into the store, and they got stuff to make pasta and salad. Italian was Jesse's favorite, and there weren't many good Italian places in Georgia.
Chloe and Beca were both on their phones as they stepped up in line to check out. The cashier started scanning their items. "Hello how are y..."
Chloe spun around. "You again?!?"
It was the guy who was mean to them before. "Why are you everywhere I work?" He hated them for some reason.
"Why are YOU everywhere I go?!?" Chloe fired back, giving him the death stare.
"I see you have another crippled friend," he smirked, glancing at Beca.
Beca rolled her eyes. "Would you just leave us alone?"
Chloe was fuming mad. "You leave her alone," she said, her face getting red. "She has been through so much in the past four days. We were in a car accident. She was in a coma for THREE days. We're lucky she's alive."
Beca cut her off. "Chloe it's ok, calm down."
"No, it's not ok, Beca. I'm not going to let him insult you like this." She turned back to the guy. "Listen, Karl," she said reading his nametag. "You don't realize what she's been through. We thought she was going to die, and she woke up with just a broken wrist and a sprained ankle. We are so unbelievably lucky. I can't even explain how lucky we are to have her, how lucky I am to have her. And you just have to insult her and me constantly. You don't know anything about us." Chloe was crying, and her throat was burning. "Beca, I need some water."
Beca looked up at her friend, astonished at what she had said. She didn't know how much she meant to Chloe. "Don't worry, we'll get you some. Let's go."
Chloe threw a 20 dollar bill at the cashier and stormed out, pushing Beca in front of her. "I'm so sorry about that guy. He treats us like shit, and it bothers me so much."
"Thanks for sticking up for me, I love that you have that in you," Beca said. She turned around to look at the ginger. "You're my best friend, Chlo. I would stick up for you too. You don't have to be sorry. He can say what he wants about us."
"Ok," Chloe said. She had calmed down a bit while helping Beca into the car.
