"Mom did he do anything?" Joe questioned his mother over the phone as he made his way to school, he didn't want to leave his mom alone with Gary but she had insisted that he doesn't step foot in the house again. She was trying to come up with something, anything that meant he would be safe. The problem was Joe wanted her to be safe.
"No he didn't, I locked myself in my room, he passed out on the couch," Denise answered as she wondered down the street too on her way to work. She often walked rather than driving since it wasn't too far. "Joe I was thinking about you moving away with Demi, that way you'll both be safe." Joe sighed looking towards the floor.
"Mom we'll be eighteen, we can't afford our own place." Joe replied.
"I'll help you and I'm sure your dad will. We can move your internship to a gym wherever so that will help. We'll see if we can get Demi a little job she can do from home so she can do it throughout the pregnancy and even when the baby is born. I'll sort everything out, don't worry about anything." Denise demanded softly.
"I will worry mom cause I'd be leaving you there with him, can't you come with us?" Joe urged standing outside the gates ready to wait for Demi, Nick and Willa who arrived together. He was early as it was not wanting to tell his sister anything about Gary, he didn't want her to worry about her own children's safety. He was already worrying about his child's and he or she wasn't much yet, just a little shape inside their mother.
"Then he'd know something was up Joe, I'll be fine here. It's about time this all stopped for you." Joe sighed sitting down on the floor.
"I love you mom." Joe whispered slightly Denise smiling over the phone.
"And I love you too, don't worry about me and have a good day at school. I'll be over later." They said their goodbyes before they hung up. Joe slipped his phone in his jeans pocket before lighting a cigarette up. He didn't care at the moment that he already had one this morning.
Joe stood up again when he saw Demi, Nick and Willa come up in the distance. He threw away his cigarette stamping on it before meeting them half way taking hold of Demi's hand, he knew already he wouldn't get a kiss so didn't try as they continued their way up to the school. They couldn't wait to get school over and done with.
"You okay?" Demi questioned Joe nodding his head.
"Yeah I'm fine, what about you?" Joe questioned Demi shrugging her shoulders pulling him away so they weren't with Nick and Willa anymore.
"I've been having morning sickness, I haven't even told anyone at the care home yet." Demi admitted Joe sighing squeezing her hand gently.
"Do you want me to come over with you after school and we'll do it together. Surely their not that scary." Joe stated Demi giggling as she leaned her head on his shoulder.
"Please, I need your support." Joe smiled kissing her head gently.
"Then you can come over and meet my oldest sister, niece and nephew," Joe grinned slightly Demi smiling leaning up kissing him gently but Joe pulled away. "I smoked."
"I'll let you off this one time." Demi smiled up at him Joe smiling too kissing her again. They had their little moment before they joined Nick and Willa again.
"Is everything okay?"Nick questioned concerned.
"Yeah we're fine." Demi assured him as they entered the building.
"Anyone got any exams today or just revision?" Willa questioned.
"No I think we're all in the library today." Joe replied as they wondered the halls together, this chapter of their lives were coming to a close but they were all looking forward to the future Joe and Demi more with their little one arriving at the beginning of next year.
