"Mom we can't take this house from you." Joe insisted putting the keys back in the envelope setting it on the chair arm which Denise was sat on. He knew it was really nice for her to offer her house to them but it wasn't something he could do, not when she was the one who had been through what she had with Gary as well. He found it hard to leave her home alone but it was easier now he knew Gary was locked away.
"What use is this house to me? It has two bedrooms I'll never need which you will. It has a garden for the dogs, it's a beautiful home and I know you will look after it. It's all paid for, you'll just have to pay for bills." Denise explained throwing Joe the envelope back.
"Where will you live?" Demi questioned.
"I'll move into your apartment, it's ideal for me and it still has a spare bedroom for when the grandchildren want to stay over," Denise stated. "It's really okay, I want you to take it so do and look after the house." She laughed as Joe got up from his seat giving her a hug Demi not moving but she didn't blame her. She knew she was grateful.
The next couple of days leading up to new years was all about moving their stuff into the house, they will admit that it was better for them and Denise was quite happy in their little apartment but they still thought it was too much to give them just as a Christmas present. They were relieved to be able to bring their boys back to a house and not a tiny apartment, they knew it was going to be too small for the four of them six including AJ and Bailey. It was now new year's eve and Joe and Demi had just arrived and settled in at Paul's house. Joe was happy to see his dad again.
"You have the bed, I'll be fine on the floor." Joe insisted kissing her gently setting his bag on the floor. It was only a single bed so they weren't able to share.
"What if you have a nightmare? I won't be able to get on the floor to wake you." Demi looked over at her boyfriend who kissed her forehead.
"Just kick me," He joked only getting stern look from Demi. "I know it's not a joking matter but sometimes you just have to laugh about it."
"I just don't like seeing you how you are when it happens." Demi admitted wrapping her arms around his middle Joe smiling as he felt her bump against him wrapping his arms around her kissing the top of her head.
Demi slipped her blanket over her shoulders Joe just having helped her put her shoes on her feet, he could tell she was really starting to struggle and getting uncomfortable and she still had another month until she reached her due date. Joe kissed her head before leading her out into the backyard where Paul was doing a firework display.
"I can't believe we're in the new year already." Demi mumbled leaning her head on his shoulder as they sat down on the swing bench able to watch from a slight distance. It was the first year he had met Alice's family all gathering for the new year.
"Yeah but it's the year which our boys will be born in." Joe grinned Demi smiling too as they shared a kiss Joe keeping his arm around her to keep her warm. Joe to Demi had been perfect helping her out through the pregnancy, she knew he was going to be just as good when they arrived.
"Thank you Joe, I had a good year well most of it. The beginning was a little depressing." Demi admitted Joe kissing the top of her head.
"It was for me too, I'm just glad you kept pestering me about Gary otherwise I wouldn't have told you or anyone else." Joe stated Demi smiling as did Joe. The fireworks soon begun both Joe and Demi watching them from the swing bench against the wall of the house. It was about halfway through when Demi felt a sharp pain. She knew the feeling from when she went into an early labour.
"Joe I don't think the boys like fireworks, they're coming." Demi feared looking up at her boyfriend.
