Demi met Willa outside her class after biology, they had the next couple of lessons together until lunch where Willa had suggested she come meet her with some of her friends. She should have guessed she'd have more friends that she'd have to get to know. They sat down at a table being the first ones who had arrived. Demi had already brought her own lunch from the care home Nathan having made it for her.
"So where do you live?" Willa questioned Demi sighing. "Sorry is it something that you don't like to talk about?" She inquired Demi shaking her head gently.
"It's fine, I live in care. I just got taken out of my home because my dad abused me. That was in Dallas and they moved me out here to make a fresh start." Demi explained.
"Aw I'm sorry Demi, I'll always be there for you if you need someone to talk to." Willa assured her Demi giving her a smile.
"Thank you, I'm over it. I don't plan to go to a new home, just spend the year there until I can move out and pay for my own life." Demi stated.
"Sounds like you have a plan," Willa stated looking up at someone sitting down opposite them. "Hi Nick, this is Demi she's new today, Demi this is Nick one of my closet friends." Demi greeted Nick as he greeted her back getting his lunch out of his backpack.
"My lessons have been so peaceful, it's been nice." Nick stated.
"Why have they been peaceful?" Willa questioned.
"Because Joe isn't here for some reason I don't know about but I don't care, most of the lessons have been quiet with no disruptions." Nick explained.
"Joe is Nick's jerk of a cousin, I'd stay away from him where you can," Willa instructed Demi who nodded her head gently. "I wonder where he is though, it's not often he's ill."
"I don't know and I don't care, I just know he's not here to bug me," Nick defended. "So Demi you live close?" Willa laughed as Did Demi. "What?"
"Nothing Nick." Willa shook her head.
Demi made it home that afternoon following a couple of the other kids into the home, she greeted Nathan as he held the door open but she made her way straight up to her bedroom. The kids would have to do their homework before they got free time but she wanted to do hers in her room where she couldn't be pestered. However it wasn't long until there was a knock on the door.
"Come in Nate." Demi instructed laughing as Nathan entered the room.
"How did you know it was me?" He questioned.
"Because you're the only one who cares about me besides Shaun, it was a lucky guess." Demi grinned smiling as Nathan took a seat at the end of her bed.
"Anyway how was your first day?" Nathan questioned again.
"It was good, I met a girl and we became friends I guess. All my lessons were good too, I'm about to start my homework." Demi explained.
"Well I won't hold you back, if you get stuck go to Shaun because I have no idea, why do you think I became a care worker?" Demi laughed as he stood up.
"Thanks for the support Nathan." Demi stated looking up at him.
"It's not a problem." He gave her a warm smile as he exited the room closing the door behind her. Demi took in a deep breath before starting her homework which she suspected would take her a fair while. She had enjoyed her day at school more than she thought she would, Willa was a really nice girl and she looked forward to getting to know her a little more. Nick seemed like a nice guy too as he looked after her in a couple of lessons after lunch which Willa wasn't in. She felt more cared at the moment then she did at home with her father.
