"Joe wake up!" Demi shouted shaking him trying to do it gently so she didn't startle him. She sighed of relief when he woke up rising quickly Demi having to move backwards so he didn't head butt her. "Are you okay?" Joe nodded his head once before laying back down on the bed. Demi grabbed a tissue wiping his forehead of sweat.
"Happy Christmas." Joe breathed making Demi smile leaning over kissing his cheek.
"Merry Christmas handsome," Demi answered but she couldn't help but be worried about her boyfriend. It had been two months since the incident and when he started having these nightmares, he still saw Tom twice a week but it hadn't been doing much good. It was getting more frequent and harder to wake him up. He had failed to lash out in his sleep though which Demi was happy about, she didn't have to worry about him accidently hurting the boys or herself. She knew he'd never forgive himself if something happened to the boys because he lashed out whether he had control or not. She was at a complete loss of what to do next. "Do you want to get up now or go back to sleep? I'm going to get up and move cause I'm getting uncomfortable."
"I'll get up and have a good day," Joe leaned over pecking her lips gently, he climbed out of bed then helping her out. "I love you."
"I love you too Joe," Demi answered leaning up on her top toes kissing him Joe smiling as she pulled away. "Let's have our first and last Christmas together." She grabbed his hand leading him into the living room. Their living room and kitchen were combined into one a archway separating the rooms. It wasn't a massive place but they hoped to find themselves a house when the boys were a little older. A house near Joe's family, they wanted them to be around their family a lot.
"We're going to mom's later and beside we're not alone." Joe cooed opening the cage stroking both dogs as they greeted him nudging his hands. They were more attached to Joe then they were Demi but she tried not to be around them as much with being so far along at the moment. She hoped to bond and help Joe train them when the boys had arrived.
"I haven't celebrated Christmas in years." Demi admitted sitting down.
"Why?" Joe inquired sitting down next to her Bailey soon joining him wanting attention from him Joe more than happy to give it.
"Dad never celebrated it." Demi shrugged her shoulders Joe laying his hand down on her leg rubbing it gently in a soothing motion.
"Then I'm determined to give you the best Christmas you've ever had." Joe stated Demi smiling before Joe kissed her wasting no time to kiss him back.
Demi held Joe's hand as they entered Denise's house, they could smell the aroma of lunch cooking already and they were only in the hallway. Joe leaned down letting AJ and Bailey off their leashes before they both entered the house further into the living room where they greeted Denise and the rest of the family. The room was packed but that's how it should be at Christmas time. Jenna had moved so Demi could sit down Joe now on the floor with AJ and Bailey making sure they were kind around the children who were thrilled to see them.
"How are you feeling Joe?" Denise inquired.
"I'm fine," Joe insisted, he was used to everything by now. Denise looked in Demi's direction who shrugged her shoulders. They were all worried about him. "What did you get for Christmas Gemma??" Gemma looked up from stroking AJ looking excited as she lifted up a doll handing it to Joe who just laughed at his niece.
"A dolly!" She exclaimed.
"We got her a play kitchen thing that was expensive and she's more interested in a doll." Jenna complained to her younger brother who laughed again handing the doll back to Gemma but now she was just more interested in AJ.
