Joe and Demi made it back home after taking a stroll back from the hospital. Nathan had dropped them off but they wanted to walk back, they liked to get away from the home as much as they could. It wasn't really suitable for two teenagers who were close to becoming adults, their birthdays were fast approaching and they had already started to look for their own place which would be suitable for them and their two children.
"Joe, Demi is that you?!" Nathan called from the office.
"Yeah it's us!" Demi called back.
"Someone is here to visit, come in!" Joe and Demi looked at one another before they entered the office a smile coming to Joe's lips when he saw his father sat down on the chair but he soon got up bringing his only son into a hug. Joe hugged him back before they both pulled away.
"What are you doing here?" Joe questioned.
"Because you came here you haven't been over in a while and I thought since Beth has had given birth I'd come spend some time with you , I still need a full explanation." Joe laughed nodding his head holding onto Demi's hand knowing his father hadn't seen Demi since he dropped him off.
"You remember Demi." Paul nodded his head this time sharing a hug with Demi.
"How's the pregnancy going?" He questioned.
"It's alright, I don't really know how it should feel." Demi answered making them laugh as they made their way into the living room where they sat down. All the children were at school so it gave them chance to sit in comfort and have some time alone.
"Have you seen Skylar yet?" Joe questioned Paul shaking his head gently taking a sip of the coffee his son had made him before answering.
"Beth said that she'll be coming home with her today so I'll go over before I go back home. I'm only staying for the day." Paul explained.
"She is beautiful, I have a picture if you want to see?" Joe questioned but Paul shook his head gently making Joe slip his phone back in her pocket.
"I'd rather see the little princess in person." Paul grinned. He liked seeing his Grandchildren, it reminded him of his own children when they were young. He missed that at times but he tried to push past that knowing he had Grandchildren to enjoy.
"I managed to convince Nathan for cookies." Demi stated as she entered the room the packet of Cookies in her hands passing them over to Joe who opened them sharing them out as Demi sat down next to him.
"So what is the deal with you staying here?" Paul inquired.
"Um Gary was abusing me and mom so mom has gone to some charity and left me here because it's what's best for both of us," Joe explained, he could see the rage that was starting to build up on his father's face. "Dad it's fine honestly."
"It's not though is it Joe, another man was hurting my son." Demi squeezed Joe's hand to assure him that it was okay. Joe was thankful.
"Dad Demi's dad abused her and that's why she's here, just be careful what you say." Joe begged slightly Paul nodding his head holding his anger back Demi burying her head in Joe's arm. She forgot that part of her life but sometimes the memories came back and that's when she struggled. Joe had helped her get her mind of it. She never imagined she'd fine herself a boyfriend like Joe when she moved here but she was glad she did. He was becoming a huge part of her life.
"Why isn't the bastard in jail though?" Paul inquired.
"Because they couldn't prove that the wounds I have were caused by him, it's stupid." Joe muttered looking down at the floor. Joe will admit he wondered what Gary was doing now, he didn't have Denise's wages to pay for the house rent never mind the alcohol he consumes every day.
