Sixty Three

Joe lifted the two puppies up in his arms laughing as they started licking his cheeks. Demi was watching smiling, she missed Joe being happy. It seemed like the longest time that he had been down when it was only coming up to the fifth day. The two puppies soon settled down a little bit allowing Joe to hold them, he knew they would get a lot bigger with being huskies.

"What are their names?" Joe questioned sitting down on the couch setting the dogs in his lap, they begun to play with each other in his lap.

"That's for you to decide." Demi replied sitting down in the chair, she didn't want them to harm the boys in any way. She thought she had made the right decision though bringing the two dogs into their lives. They would be best friends with the boys as they grew up.

"Um genders?" Joe questioned.

"The brown coloured one is a girl and the darker one is a boy, their brother and sister. Dad was a brown husky and mom was a dark silver one." Demi explained.

"Help me? They're your puppies as well? We'll get practice in for when the boys arrive." Demi laughed slightly looking at the puppies.

"I kinda like AJ for our little boy puppy." Demi admitted.

"AJ," Joe called laughing when they both looked up at him before continuing to play. "I think we should call them both AJ." Joe joked.

"Don't even think about suggesting that with the boys." Demi warned jokingly, she missed being able to have a joke with him. The past couple of days he had just ignored her whenever she had started a joke off or murmured something at the very least.

"I like AJ for the boy and I was think Bailey for the girl." Joe stated looking over at her.

"Those are great names Joe," Demi expressed a smile on her face. "They've had all their jabs, why don't you take them for a walk and get to know them?"

"Come on then AJ and Bailey." Joe stated putting them both on the floor taking the leashes from Demi attaching them to their collars.

"We'll get their names engraved on their collars another time, have fun." She smiled as he leaned down kissing her.

"Thank you, I love you so much."

"I love you too Joe." Demi watched as Joe left with the boisterous puppies. She knew at the moment they wouldn't be allowed around the boys but hopefully soon enough they could train them to be gentle and nice. She was looking forward to seeing them together.

Joe looked down as he walked AJ and Bailey, they seemed to be enjoying themselves but he knew they had some training ahead of themselves, even now they were jumping up at the leash. But more importantly they needed to train them for when their sons arrived. They couldn't have them around if they didn't think they would be safe.

"You two are crazy," Joe accused smiling to himself, he laughed when AJ looked up at him before carrying on to jump up at the leash. "Yeah I was talking to you." He knew these dogs would help him get through everything that has happened, even now he felt a lot better having them around but as he trained them and got to know them he wouldn't be thinking about Gary and what he had done to his family. It would only get better when his sons arrived, he knew he was going to get better. He just needed time. Joe spent about an hour out with them knowing they were huskies and needed long walks. He carried Bailey up the stairs as she struggled entering the apartment setting her back down on the floor where she joined her brother in some lunch that Demi just laid down for them.

"Have fun?" Demi questioned Joe nodding his head kissing her gently.

"Yeah thanks." He slumped down on the couch taking the glass Demi had left out for him to take his medication with.
