Joe looked down at his girlfriend in horror Demi already able to see the panic on his face. She was supposed to have a month left before they welcomed their two boys, just the thought of them coming now was completely overwhelming for them both but they didn't have too much time go panic, they were on their way now, no holding back now.
"They can't be Demi, I'm nowhere near well enough mentally to become a dad." Joe choked Demi taking hold of her hand silently counting how long it was going to be before her next contraction was. They would be more precise later on.
"Have you ever thought that maybe these boys coming will be the reason you'll get better?" Joe shook his head. "You'll be a great dad Joe, your boys want to come meet you." She spoke Joe cracking a small smile but it was soon washed away when he saw the look of pain on her face as another pain hit her. Joe took in a deep breath knowing he had to be the one who was strong. Demi was the one going through the pain not him, he needed to be there for her.
"Let's get you inside and we'll start counting your contractions more precisely." Joe breathed standing up taking hold of both of her hands helping her stand up.
"Is everything okay?" Alice inquired turning to them.
"The babies are coming," Joe stated both Alice and Demi able to hear the panic in his tone, Demi couldn't blame him but she was glad he was trying to hide it. He begun to help her into the house Alice helping her too, she had been through the pain before, she knew what she was going through. They both helped her down onto the couch Joe sitting down beside her taking hold of her hand letting her lean her head on his shoulder. "Everything will be okay, I love you." He whispered in her ear kissing the top of her head gently.
"I love you too Joe." Demi answered shutting her eyes.
It was around three in the morning two hours later when they headed off to the hospital as the labour progressed. Her waters had broke and their little boys were slowly making their way to say hello to the world and the people who would love them. Demi sat back when she had a foetal monitor strapped around her middle so they could monitor their boys, Joe was by her side the whole time starting to get used to the idea that he would be becoming a dad within the next day.
"Twin boys am I correct?" Kylie, the midwife questioned Demi nodding her head.
"I went into an early labour at twenty five weeks if that may cause any problems?" Demi questioned but Kylie shook her head.
"I don't think it should but we'll keep an extra eye out." She promised.
"How long do you think she'll be before she starts pushing?" Joe questioned, Denise was on her way down to be with them, they had already asked her if she could come and be in the room while she gave birth. Demi just wanted someone she could trust and who had been through it all before. She knew it wasn't the same cause she was having two but it was as close as she could get.
"Not for another couple of hours, is there anybody you want us to call?" Kylie questioned Joe shaking his head gently.
"I think we called just about everyone but thanks." Joe answered.
"I'll come by soon and check on everything for now just relax and call if anything changes." Joe and Demi nodded their heads before she left. Joe leaned over kissing her temple before taking hold of her hand squeezing it gently.
"I always wished that I would go into labour in a morning, then I've had some sleep but at the moment I should be in bed!" Demi exclaimed making Joe laugh.
"We need to get used to living without much sleep, we have two babies on the way." Joe grinned leaning over kissing her gently before pulling away.
"Eh we'll sleep when we're dead." Joe laughed squeezing her hand again helping her through the contraction.
