"Hey girl what's wrong?" Joe breathed worried but she didn't even open her eyes to his voice, he could see her chest moving up and down at a fast pace. "AJ move." AJ didn't move making Joe sigh having to move the dog himself but he wanted to be near his sister which was making him worried more than anything. He lifted Bailey up in his arms Bailey finally lifting her head up licking his cheek making him smile but he was still worried. He wondered downstairs sighing as Demi met him worried too but he shook his head.
"She's not well, I'm going to take her to the vets." He explained Demi nodding her head kissing Bailey's head who nuzzled into her head to her hand. Demi held AJ back as he tried to follow Joe out the house, he howled Demi sighing kneeling down by the dog when the door was closed.
"She'll be okay AJ, you're a good brother." Demi cooed kissing his head too as AJ snuggled with her Demi now sat on her bum in the hallway.
Joe laid Bailey down on the table so the vet could assess her. The dogs didn't really like the vets much but Bailey wasn't reacting which just made Joe even more worried. He wanted her to be okay, she was only two. He couldn't lose her now, she was like his own baby. Lee entered the room giving Joe a warm smile as he slipped some gloves over his hands.
"Who's this beautiful dog?" He questioned stroking her head.
"Her name is Bailey, I have no idea what's wrong. She just isn't herself." Joe stated running his fingers through her fur to calm her down.
"Have you been anywhere with her today at all?" Lee questioned.
"My fiancé takes her and our other husky for walks in a morning but I don't know where she went with them." Joe stated.
"We've had a good few dogs coming in over the past couple of weeks who have eaten poisonous plants that start coming up around this time of the year. I think I'll run some tests on her for that. Is she a greedy dog when it comes to food?" Joe shook her head.
"We find it hard sometimes to get her to eat, her brother tends to eat more than she does." Joe answered Lee nodding his head.
"Well I'll run some tests on her and see if I can figure out what is going on, do you have to be anywhere?" Joe shook his head gently.
"I can stay as long as it takes." He urged taking his hands off the dog so she could be assessed. He just prayed that she hadn't eaten a plant and if she had it wasn't too late to save her. He couldn't imagine waking up and not having her come greet him like she usually does.
"Okay kids AJ needs some cheering up, why don't you go play with him for a little bit before lunchtime?" Demi suggested one of the older children a toy rope so he could play with AJ and not be too little with how big AJ was. Demi lifted Jayden up in her arms when he held out his arms for her. She kissed his hair gently.
"Momma where Bailey?" Jayden questioned, Demi couldn't tell her two year old sons what was going on yet, not until they knew that she was going to be okay or she isn't.
"Daddy has just taken her for a walk." Demi stated.
"Not AJ?" Niall questioned to looking up at his mother.
"AJ is a little tired, he'll be okay though." Demi promised, she could at least promise that. AJ would be okay but whether his sister would they didn't know. Demi put Jayden back on the floor sighing when AJ laid on the floor with his head in his paws, he didn't even look happy but she couldn't blame him. The two dogs were never separated, even from birth they had shown signs of being best friends. It was the main reason Demi decided to bring both of them home, she didn't know how he would cope if they were to lose Bailey.
