It was a cloudy and stormy day, and you'd had to use all of your strength to make yourself get out of bed and attend school. The cold weather made it hard for you to leave the warmth and comfort of your bed, and the dreariness of the overcast sky made your mood match the weather.
Hinata, on the other hand, was ecstatic about going to school that day. Karasuno had recently won an important game in a tournament, and he couldn't wait to get to school so that he could brag to all of his classmates.
"Hey, (f/n)-chan!" You heard an impossibly loud voice call from nearby, making you flinch slightly. Rushed footsteps followed as the excited boy ran over to you and walked alongside you. "We won yesterday!"
"Oh? That's great, Shouyou!" you responded with a weak smile. You were trying to feign as much happiness as you could do that you didn't drag his spirits down or upset him. So, instead of speaking, you let him carry on telling you about exactly how the game went, adding little comments of praise here and there.
When you arrived at school, Hinata walked with you to your class, and the two of you finished up your conversation before he said his farewells and went to his class.
"(F/n)?" The boy stopped walking away and turned to face you again, making you pause and look back into his concerned, brown eyes. You felt your heart flutter slightly in your chest. "Are you okay?"
Your (e/c) eyes widened slightly before you took a strand of your (h/c) hair and wrapped it around your finger. "I'm fine. Don't worry about me." You gave him another overly exaggerated smile in the hopes that he wouldn't worry. He nodded in return and continued to walk to his class, but you weren't sure that he was convinced.

Once lunch had started, you rooted around in your bag for the lunch that you had packed and dug it out before opening it. Hopefully, some nice food would soothe your weary mind and body. The school day seemed to be going by so slowly and you started to question why you were still here. I wanna go home... you thought as you took a bite out of your sandwich.
As you ate, you stared listlessly out a window that you were sitting next to, looking at how dreary the weather made the whole world around you seem. Everything seemed so... dark and lifeless. It made you want to go back to sleep...
"(F/n)-chan!" You turned towards the source of the voice and saw Hinata standing in the doorway to your classroom, looking agitated. His loud voice had grabbed the attention of your classmates, and they looked back and forth between the two of you. "What are you doing in here by yourself?! Come to my classroom and eat lunch with me and Kageyama!"
Since there was no saying no to him, you slung your bag over your shoulder and carried your lunch with you as you walked with Hinata to his own classroom. You took a seat at a desk next to Hinata and looked around for the missing third person.
"Where's Kageyama-kun?" you asked quietly.
Hinata looked around the room before his eye twitched and he balled his hands up into fists. "He abandoned me!" he cried, running his hands through his spiky orange hair and messing it up slightly. "How mean!" He let out a sigh and looked over at you. "I guess it's okay, though, since you're here now."
You blushed and looked away, and you missed the blush that had covered his own face when he said that. "Well... thanks for inviting me, Shouyou..." you responded quietly. You were secretly happy that he'd come to get you from your classroom. You'd much rather spend time with him than sit alone by a window and think about how glum you were.
"(F/n)... you seemed kinda down so I got you some snacks." You looked over at Hinata and smiled slightly when he held a small bag out towards you.
"Thank you," you told him, blushing slightly and giving him a genuine smile. You accepted the bag from him and looked inside, seeing a small collection of a few of your favorite snacks. "Is there anything I can give you in return?" you asked. You felt bad that he'd gone to the trouble to get your favorite snack and here you were with nothing to give him back. "I'll go and buy you a drink!" You quickly stood up, but he got up as well and stood in front of you so that you couldn't leave.
"It's fine! You don't have to do that," Hinata assured you, flashing you a bright smile. Your heart seemed to skip a beat when he looked at you like that. His smile was bright enough to light up the whole room and to expel the weariness that you'd felt settling into your body. "I just want you to... stay here and keep me company." He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly as a light blush dusted his cheeks.
You giggled at his comment and surprised him by wrapping your arms around him and pulling him into a hug. You had realized how cold you were until you felt his warmth, and you didn't want to pull away, especially after he'd recovered from his shock and put his arms around you as well. You wondered what you would do without him.
He was the blissful ray of sunshine that brightened dark and dreary days like these. You wouldn't have to worry about feeling alone or sad whenever he was around. You could always count on him to cheer you up.
