The princess and her knight in shining armor... (694 words)

---

"Aunt Y/N!" I heard my little niece, Monica, giggle and immediately, I bent down to her height and hugged her.

"I missed my favorite niece so much! How are you, Mon?"  I chuckled to myself and softly kissed her forehead while I waited for an answer.

"I'm your only niece, Aunt Y/N..." She sassily replied to me and I shook my head in amusement.

"Oops!" I giggled and picked her up and set her down on the couch before I went ahead and said goodbye to my sibling who dropped her off.

Walking over to the living room where she was currently located at, I saw her concentrate on the episode of Doc McStuffins. And at the same time was when my husband, Jamie, came downstairs and clearly not in the greatest mood.

"Uncle Jamie!" She squealed as she squirmed off the couch and waddled over to where he was.

Jamie chuckled to himself and picked her up in his arms and tickled her mercilessly.

"How's my little Mon doing?" He smiled at Monica and she giggled as a blush came upon her face. She loved spending time with Jamie and I, which was why most of the time when her parents needed a babysitter, they'd drop her off at our house.

"I'm good!" She smiled with a grin before she tugged on his shirt.

"Yes, Mon?" He looked at her while he had one hand messing with her hair.

"Can we have a tea party, please?" She replied to him with the whole package of puppy dog eyes and a pout.

Of course, he couldn't resist her charm and he gave into the idea. She cheered and he set her down back on the floor before she begged him to follow her.

"Oh, and Aunt Y/N!" She exclaimed and I looked at her.

"Yes, sweetheart?" I asked her with confusion laced in my tone.

"Do you want to join us for the tea party?"

"Why, I'd be honored to join you and your uncle!"

She clapped her hands before she disappeared into the room she was staying in, which had all her favorite toys and such.

---

"Oh my god..." My hand flew up to my mouth to try to stifle my laugh as I saw Monica and Jamie dressed up, but with the addition of Jamie wearing a tutu and a tiara atop his dark hair.

"Don't you say one word about this to Seg..." He muttered as he sat closer to Mon, but his seat was across from mine.

"I won't...You're just so beautiful in your princess outfit!" I let out a giggle, but that pretty much turned into a session of laughter before I calmed myself down.

Monica handed me my tiara, which I laid on top of my head and she had announced that the tea party had started.

"Mon, I don't think Mr. Blue's cup is filled with tea..." I smiled at her softly and she giggled. She grabbed the tea kettle and poured the fake tea into Mr. Blue's teacup.

Overall, the tea party was a success and pretty soon, it was dinnertime and then, it was bedtime for Mon.

---

"Aunt Y/N?" She had squeaked out as I was about to exit the room, but I turned around to face her.

"Yes, Monica?" I looked at her with my arms crossed and she pointed towards an empty spot on her bed.

"Can you tell me a bedtime story?"

I walked over with a smile and sat down on her bed and started to tell her the story of how Jamie and I had met for the first time.

"So, you're the princess and Uncle Jamie is your knight in shining armor!" She giggled and she was very smart for her age.

"Yes, indeed! Now, goodnight, Monica!" I kissed her forehead and turned off the main lights but turned on the night-light for her. Quietly, I slowly walked out of the room and walked into the bedroom that Jamie and I had both shared.

"What story did you tell her?" He smiled at me as he looked up from his phone.

"Ours."
