Chapter 11

BG gets Cheyenne and takes her to Robert and shuts the door behind her and stands guard. He is amazed at Robert and how he is handling this . Just like his song One Hell of an Amen Robert is fighting the good fight till the good Lord calls him home. He just grins as he thinks about what is happening in the room behind him. He prays Cheyenne isn't a screamer.

Meanwhile inside the room...
Cheyenne crawls up into Roberts arms and Robert leans to kiss her, she responds but then pulls back. Robert looks at her and says what baby you gonna deny a dying man his last request and grins. The tears fall down her face and she just shakes her head no. Robert says let me love you one last time, let my last moments be with you and showing you how precious you are to me. Robert kisses her lips and runs his tongue on her bottom lip asking for entrance she opens up because she could never deny him. Even now she knows he's cutting his time shorter by using this energy but she wants him one last time. He stops the kiss and says my lower half may not work but I can pleasure you please let me. BG sticks his head in and Robert tells him to go get everyone else and bring them in. As BG starts to leave he takes out his phone and snaps a picture of them laying in the bed. He knows Cheyenne will want it for later.

Later...

Everyone that could fit in the room was there. Robert talks about who he wants to do his funeral and what he wants. He talks and holds Cheyenne and hugs his kids and talks to them letting them ask him questions. They spend the next few hours laughing and talking to anyone that came by to see him and the family. Cheyenne hasn't moved from the spot on the bed. She has lain in Roberts arms and you could tell she was taking in the moment. Like she was trying to make a lifetime of hugs and being held by Robert. Robert starts to get quieter and everyone but the family has left knowing that the time had come. They all stand around his bed and the sweetest voice starts singing Amazing Grace. Everyone looks it is Cheyenne and she motions for us all to join in, so we do and Robert gets a peaceful look on his face. Tears start running down everyone's face as they sing Robert into heaven. Robert whispers one more time I love you and Cheyenne say I love you too baby and he is gone. Sierra turns to Colt and loses it. Ellie has Brody and Ace goes to Cheyenne and holds her while his body is wracked with sobs. BG stands behind Ace and Cheyenne letting them know that he is there.
The nurses and Doctor come in and pronounce Robert dead. They tell the family to wait in the waiting room if they want to and ask what funeral home they need to call and Cheyenne say Memorial Chapel. Robert's mom said that isn't where our family uses and Cheyenne stands up and said to her that is what Robert wanted. He planned his funeral and I plan to honor his wishes if you have a problem with that then you will have to get over it. Robert's mom looks at Cheyenne and said if he knew what you were doing he would be upset and Cheyenne replied no he wouldn't he is my husband and I know and his children know what he wanted and this is it. We have already contacted them the viewing will be tomorrow night and the funeral Thursday at 1pm. Ace has a ballgame at 4 on Thursday so he will have to be at school until 11:30am to be able to play. Robert's mom and dad said surely you aren't going to worry about a ballgame. Sierra spoke up at this point and said that is exactly what we are going to do it is what daddy wanted and it was our last promise to him that we would be there for Ace. You can come or not that is up to you it you will not give momma any grief over this. Robert's mom said that they were all disrespectful and walks out telling his dad to come on they were going home. Robert's sister and her family waited around with Cheyenne and the kids. BG now understands what Robert meant when he said Cheyenne needed someone.
