Chapter 35

BG POV
What the hell just happened? I think I have entered the twilight zone. Cheyenne just put a claim on me to some random fan who was out of line and I claimed her and said she was my girl. Then Ace comes up and tells us that him and the girls give us their blessing and so would Robert. Then calmly walks off to go run his race.

Cheyenne POV
What was I thinking I made it seem like B was mine to a stranger cause I didn't like what she was doing?! ! Then he calls me his girl and Kolby and Ben told Ace. He laughed and then said that everyone else could see we were supposed to be together we just needed to admit it. Then gave us his blessing WTH? Then just walks off to get ready for his race.

BG and Cheyenne look at each other and BG asks her were they in the twilight zone because that is what the last hour has felt like to him. Cheyenne looks at him and says we have to be because that is the way I feel too. They notice that the race is about to start so they are leaning on the fence cheering them all on when it gets close to Ace's turn. Handoff wasn't great but he comes round the curve and made up a ton of ground putting them in the lead and hands off clean and they scream as Aces teammate Garrett runs across the finish line in first!!! They are jumping around and BG picks her up and twirls her around in celebration and they head to the tent where they will meet up with Ace. BG keeps her hand in his as they walk and admits to himself that it feels right her in his arms. But he's not a free man and in all actuality neither is she. This has to be a slow approach slower than he has ever done. As they walk to the tent Cheyenne hugs Ace and goes into momma mode telling him that he has to cool off, eat and rehydrate so he will be able to run this afternoon and play ball. He needs to conserve his energy so she plans on hanging around the tent the rest of the day. Ace tells Cheyenne that it felt like he was flying in that race like his feet never touched the ground. She hugs him and sits down and BG hugs him and they stand talking for a little bit as Ace cools off. They all start to get something to eat and sit around the tents talking and enjoying spending the time with the kids.

Sierra comes up and asks how the first race went and Ace tells her that they won. She congratulates them and sits down across from her mom. Ace sits in Cheyenne's lap and leans back and whispers to her well what have you and BG decided? Cheyenne just shakes her head no and tells Ace " I'm not talking about that here." Ace just grins and hugs her. Sierra asked what they were whispering about. Cheyenne quickly tells her nothing. BG asks her if she was okay and she said yes I'm fine. Sierra looks at BG and her mom and says,"Have y'all finally woke up? Who won the pool?" Kolby and Ben crack up laughing and Cheyenne says " not you too" Sierra tells her mom that everyone can see it why were they fighting it? Cheyenne makes Ace get up and as she walks off tears start to fall. BG looks at everyone and tells them that they need to lay off Cheyenne. She is having a tough time today without Robert. Sierra looks like she is about to cry and BG tells her what all had happened this morning and not to cry because her mom knows she didn't mean anything hurtful. Sierra laughs Ans says I bet mom was fit to be tied. You don't mess with her family. She then looks at BG and asks " do you love my mom, if you do then you need to tell her. Cause I know she loves you." BG looks at them and says" yes I love your mom but there are so many things going on right now. I don't know guys because she is my best friend and I cannot lose her." Sierra looks at BG and tells him "then tell her discuss it and see if y'all want to change things but if I have learned anything from my dads death is that we are not guaranteed another minute. Don't let life pass you by." BG just nods his head and tells her thanks I will consider it.
They watch the other events and cheer the team on. It is getting time for Ace's second event and then he will have to leave to go to the baseball game. As Cheyenne comes back and starts getting her stuff together before they start the race so she will be ready to leave as soon as the race is over. BG takes it to her vehicle and loads it for her. They line up for the 4x800 and Ace is the anchor leg for this race. They are all lined up yelling and cheering. The team isn't doing great but Ace cuts the distance and passes to bring in 2nd place. He lays down on the ground trying to catch his breath. Cheyenne gives him something to drink and his coach gives him energy chews. They are trying to get him ready to leave to go play baseball. He gets up and they leave. Sierra gets him a sandwich and gives it to him and they get in the car and head to the baseball field. Ace changes in the car and is getting pumped for his games. BG has rode with them and the band and Kolby were going to eat then come to the game. That way BG and Cheyenne would have some time alone without everyone else around. They all felt really bad that they had made Cheyenne cry earlier. Cheyenne pulls up and Ace gets out and runs to his teams dugout.
