Chapter 94

The toasts had everyone crying and Luke got on stage and said okay it's time to liven this place up and celebrate love tonight so here we go. He sings crash my party and that's my kind of night. Jake Owen is next singing Don't think I can't love you. Then they ask everyone to clear the dance floor for the bride and grooms dance and to sing This Kind of Love welcome Sister Hazel to the stage. BG grins as Cheyene's surprised and cries. He takes her in his arms and dances with his wife. He says" Darlin you are my world and you keep me where I need to be" She tells him " with you I can be weak or strong either way I know you are right beside me" Always darlin. The song ends and Luke says please welcome Carrie and Miranda they will be singing the next song and unbeknown to Cheyenne we are not doing the traditional father daughter dance instead this dance is for her from her children Carrie starts singing wind beneath my wings. They are all crying and smiling. BG stands and watches his family with a smile on his face. Jason tells him he is a lucky man he says I know man.
Jason goes on stage and said now for the mother son dance. The song that fits these two people is one that BG wrote and sings and I won't do it as good as he can and he starts singing Indianas Angel. Momma Becky cries and tells him she is so proud of him. 
It was a parade of stars singing and after about 2 hours Luke and Jason get up on stage and said we all have been up here but we haven't had the guests of honor up here so let's see if we can't get BG and Cheyenne to come sing for us.  BG takes off his jacket and drapes it over his chair and helps Cheyenne stand and they make their way up front to the stage and his band makes their way and ask what are we doing BG said Hurts so Good first. They sing and the ones who haven't seen them in person are amazed and see what all the buzz was about.
After they finish BG says " I don't know where to start right now so I have to say thank you Kolby and Mama for being right beside me through those rough days and for never giving up on me. To my new family, I love you and I'm proud to be your Pop. And to my beautiful wife who didn't care that I was a country music star that day you gave me the kick in the butt about what I was doing to myself and the people around me. Many don't know that story so it's time that I tell it, I had agreed to do a meet and greet and grant a make a wish. The child and her parents came to one of my shows and Cheyenne came with them because she needed a nurse and it was one of Cheyenne's students. We are hanging out talking and I of course was drinking like I did all the time back then only I wasn't doing it openly. I had it in a red cup with coke. Cheyenne also had a red cup and she picked up mine by mistake and about had a fit. She shot me a glare and went and threw it in the garbage. The parents were talking to my band and Cheyenne took the time to tell me these next words " You have been blessed with a gift to sing and write songs that touch people in their heart about living in a small town, about love and losing it and you are throwing it all away by drowning yourself in alcohol. You need to get your head out of your butt and look around and see the good you can do and see who you are hurting by your actions. Please don't be one of the ones that we lose too early because of alcohol. God placed you here with a plan and purpose for your life and it's time you thanked him and did it. I'm praying for you BG."       I was so pissed off thinking who was she to tell me what to do but those words haunted me everywhere I went. So I found the papers that had her work number and I called her and asked her questions about why she did that. That day changed my life and the song just as I am was born. All because she cared about me as a person. We continued to keep in touch and I met her husband and we became great friends. When I felt weak I would call them and they were there no matter what time it was. They became my family. Then I got a call that changed my life that Robert was in bad shape, so I did what they would have done I went to be with them. Never would I have thought I would be here with her as my wife. I was married we were all friends they were at my wedding. Then after her world fell apart mine fell apart and she came when I called. She was there through the worst. When we found out about the knuckle heads pool of when we would realize we needed to be together it was like we had been transported to the Twilight Zone. Then we talked about it and decided to Let it Ride and see where it went. She has always said that when she didn't know what to do. So we just let it happen and stopped fighting the feelings. Cheyenne I love you baby and I will spend every day of my life trying to make you happy and know that you are loved.  Then the band started playing Let it ride and they sung with new meaning. Then they went straight into Fall into Me .
