Chapter 44

Everyone has left going back to Nashville and Georgia and Cheyenne is alone in the house picking things up and getting ready for her work week. Ace is spending the night with his friend because they have a project due tomorrow and they have to finish it up.
Cheyenne thinks of just a couple hours earlier and telling BG goodbye

Flashback

Cheyenne stands in her room putting clothes away and BG comes in and sits on her bed. He looks at her and she tells him that this time is harder than it has ever been to let him go. He nods and says come here darlin. She walks to him and he pulls her into his lap and cuddles her into his chest and tells her that it's harder for him too especially with how they started their day. I'm sorry Chey baby that being with me is causing you pain and heartache. I will walk away if that is what you want because I love you that damn much even though it would kill me I would do it. Brantley Keith Gilbert you hush that crazy talk right now!! If you were to walk away now I would break and I don't know if I would ever be able to come back from it and that's why I am so scared. You have the power to hurt me like no one else ever has not even Robert so yeah I'm terrified that what Amber and Nate said was true. But I also know that you are faithful and when you commit it is all in. But after having you here with me for the past 3 days it is going to be hard watching you go. I know we have to wait 3 weeks but as soon as the day comes I want to announce to the whole world that we are together!!! I cannot think of a better place than on the CMT awards show. They have asked us to perform Let it Ride and I think we should. We will have all our friends around us and we can get tickets for the kids if they want to go . So what do you say? Cheyenne looked at BG and said I think that is a great idea outlaw. But one thing what am I going to wear?? BG chuckled and said any damn thing you want darlin. She kissed him and turned to straddle his lap and was rubbing her hands down his chest and around his back. BG gripped her ass with both hands and plundered her mouth like she was the last drop of water in the desert. When they broke for air BG dropped his forehead to hers just looked in those baby blue eyes and said Darlin you have more power to break me than anyone else I gave you my heart so please take care of it. Cheyenne smiled and looked in his dark green eyes to his soul and told him that it was her most precious possession. He gave her a peck on the lips and said I hate to but I need to go the guys are waiting downstairs for me. She told him she knew but didn't have to like it. They get up and walk down hand in hand and out to the truck. He opens the door and she looks up at him with unshed tears in her eyes and reaches up to kiss him when he picks her up wrapping her legs around his waist and kisses her thoroughly. In the background they here catcalls and whistles from the band and Kolby. When they break apart he places her on the ground and whispers in her ear I love you Chey. She tells him I love you B. Promise we keep in touch everyday he said all day everyday darlin you ain't getting rid of me. She gives him another kiss and shuts the truck door tellin them to be careful and to let her know when they are safely home they all tell her they will. She runs over to Ben and he says you need something and she said yeah keep an eye on B for me. This separation will be harder than any other for him because of all the crap with Amber and Nate. He's gonna need someone to keep him level headed since I'm not there. Ben tells her he will do his best. She goes back to B and jumps up and kisses him one more time through the window and says I will see you in 3 weeks. He asks if everything is alright and she said yeah it's gonna be in 3 weeks. Y'all have lots to do for the tour and I do to finish school so maybe time will fly. He nods his head and tells her one more time that he loves her and she tells him the same and as the tears fall Kolby pulls out of the driveway. BG looks in the mirror and says to Kolby I only thought I knew the meaning of my song more than miles. That was nothing compared to this brother.
End of flashback

Cheyenne is startled by a knock on the door and goes to see who it is. Much to her surprise Nate is standing there. Cheyenne quickly text B and tells him that Nate is standing at her door how does he want her to handle it.
BG calls her and says what do you want to do ? I don't want him coming in the house but that is up to you. Cheyenne said well let me keep you on the line so you can hear everything okay he told her that was fine.
Cheyenne opens the wood door but leaves the storm door locked and asks Nate what he wanted. Nate said I'd like to talk to you if you will let me in. Cheyenne told him that she felt like he said enough this morning in his text messages. Nate looked embarrassed and said yeah that's what I want to talk to you about I'm sorry but I was drunk and I saw the news with you and him singing and it was like y'all were having sex on the stage with words. So I said things that I am ashamed of and I wanted you to know that I'm sorry. Cheyenne told him that she knew he had to be drunk but the thing is with drunk texts or calls what a person really feels comes out. The filter on their thoughts is gone so you end up with the truth. Nate I was hurt by your words because I have always considered you one of my best friends but those texts made me realize that Robert and BG were right that you were like they said out for one thing and that was to get in my pants. And when I came to that realization that I had been wrong about you and what place we held in the others life, well there is no going back. I know that you were there for me and I you but not anymore. I know we have to work together and I can do that but I cannot have any other contact with you. I can't trust you and you know that if I can't trust you then I have no reason to be around you. I'm sorry it has come to this but it's best for us both. Nate looks at her and says you can't mean that Cheyenne after all we have been through together you are going to let those2 come between us?Cheyenne looked at him and said they didn't come between us your true feelings and words came between us. I wish you the best cause I have always thought you were a great guy but a piece of advice quit lying to yourself and to those who care about you or else you may find out that you are all alone in this world. Goodbye Nate. Nate looks at her and says I'm sorry you feel that way and I will respect your wishes but know this I won't be around to pickup the pieces of your heart when he breaks it like he did his wife's. If he cheated on her he will cheat on you. Nate you have no idea what you are talking about, he doesn't cheat or have 5-10 women that he is talking to at the same time. He always had been and always will be a one woman man. And that is where you need to take lessons. Goodbye Nate.

BG has listened to everything that Cheyenne has said and is glad that he is at home alone because the tears have been running down his face during the conversation he was listening to. His heart was breaking for his woman and he knew she had been hurt more than she had let on this morning by the actions of two people who she considered her good friends and even family and then throw the way Liz had been treating her. He wondered if he should have just let her be and then she wouldn't have all these problems. He heard her but just barely say B he answered yeah darlin. Cheyenne asked how did I do are you okay with how I handled it? Please don't be mad at me? Chey baby I can't be mad at you, you did great. You are so strong and I love you darlin. I love you too B! I hate that I have lost a friend but then again was he really a friend? Darlin I can't answer that question and I'm sorry that I seem to cause you pain every time you turn around. What in the blazes are you talking about B you haven't caused me pain? Well you are hurt by Nate and Amber and Liz and the reason behind that is me. She laughed and said no B the reason behind that is that they all think they know what is going on or what is best for me and they don't. So you aren't the reason their stupidity is the reason. I just don't want anyone in my life who doesn't support me right now. Robert made me promise to be open to new things and that is what I am doing with your help. Thank you for loving me supporting me and being my best friend B! You're welcome darlin but you know it is a two way street. You do all that for me too! Cheyenne what are you doing now? I'm getting ready for bed I was putting things in order before he came and I am heading up to my room now. BG tells her to go to her room and look under her pillow. She does and finds a package and his tshirt. I left that for you so you could feel me around you when I can't be there. Now open the package. Oh my gosh B!!! You shouldn't have!!! Yeah I should have I wanted you to have something with you so you would know I'm there. In the box was a pair of diamond earrings. Now when you start your day know that I am always with you when you see them and that I am only just a phone call away. I love you Chey! I love you too B! Night baby girl! Night outlaw!
