Through it All

Chapter 91

On the way to the Hall of Fame, Ace asks BG who is gonna be at the Opry tonight. BG grins and says Jake Owen, Lauren Alaina and a surprise guest. They are all pretty happy with that lineup. Cheyenne is having a blast with Ellie, Ace , Sierra and Colt. It's nice that it is just her family tonight. She looks up at B and he catches her looking and leans over and kisses her. Ace said get a room, BG pulls Cheyene's hand and tries to turn her around to go back and she hits his arm and tells him to stop. B says he said to get a room. They are enjoying the tour and it's time to go get their seats in the Opry. BG had gotten them front row center seats and he's hoping that Chey won't kill him when she finds out they are the special guests. The Opry show begins with Lauren Alaina and she's good. They were fans of hers on American Idol. Jake Owen is the next one and Ellie is so excited. She saw him a year ago when he made a special appearance with Kenny Chesneys tour. He's sings American Country Love Song, Barefoot Blue Jean Night, Beachin, and Don't think I can't love you. As he's singing he works the crowd and flirts with Ellie cause she's singing the words with him.

The MC comes out and says that they love when country music artists stop by and catch up with them and tonight they are honored that Brantley and Cheyenne Gilbert and their family are here. He says that if they didn't know it but they pulled off one of the most secret weddings in quite some time and has set the music world in a buzz. So y'all help me out here and see if we can't get them to come up on stage and sing for us tonight. The crowd starts applause . Cheyenne looks at B and she says I can't sing here it's the Grand Ole Opry! He grins and says are you gonna tell the Opry no? She looks mortified and says no I can't do that. B says then darlin, I suggest we get up and go sing. We don't have the band and B points and she sees the band getting on stage and she then realizes that B had done this. He stands and holds out his hand and she takes it and says lead the way. BG leads her to stage side entrance and as they get on the stage they hand him his guitar and have his mic set up and Jon hands Cheyenne her mic and whispers you got this little bit just like any other night just a lot less people. She grins and says thanks. She turns to B and smiles. As he is getting strapped up he begins talking " I just want to say how honored I am to be back at the Grand Ole Opry and it truly is an honor to perform for you tonight. A few things have changed since the last time I was here and the biggest change is my wife of 5 days , Cheyenne, is here with me and has been touring with me . This will be her first time performing at the Opry and I'm in the dog house cause I knew but didn't tell her. With that being said please help me make her feel welcome for her Opry debut Cheyenne Gilbert. The band starts the music to Let it Ride and they sing it and as they finish the crowd is clapping and some are vocal with their praise. They go right in to Stone Cold Sober and Cheyenne does the backup for him. BG said the next song is so special to me because it talks about how we live our lives and how we go out of this world and when leave this world we should be able to say we left it in better. The 3 men I sing about in this song they did that and because of knowing them it makes me want to be a better person. The band starts the music to One Hell of an Amen B looks at Cheyenne and holds out his hand so she walks to the front of the stage and sings with him until they get to the third verse and she lets B sing it alone. She takes her hand out of his and wraps her arm around his waist, giving him and her the strength to get through this part. He finishes the song and wipes the tear that has escaped Cheyenne's eye. We're gonna do one more song for y'all tonight and this one goes out to the ones who are afraid to fall in love, when you find the one, especially after a heartbreak, it's hard to let yourself fall for that person. We tend to want to hold pieces of ourself back but this song is about falling and being there for the one you love. Also for those who have been together a long time, look in their eyes and remember falling in love.... they sing Fall into Me and they do it as a duet without ever practicing it just staring into each other's eyes. When they finished their was a standing ovation. They went backstage and were met by Lauren and Jake who had tears in their eyes. They got hugs and and lots of good compliments from everyone backstage. BG looked at Cheyenne and the smile on her face was all he needed. She turned to him and hugged him and told him thank you baby! I love you so much! I love you and wanted this whole week to be amazing for you, cause you deserve so much more than me but I'm so thankful you want me.  BG asks if someone will go get their family and bring them backstage. Jake asks them how can they do that night after night and Cheyenne tells him that she usually does at the most 3 songs with B , Hurts so Good,  Let it Ride, and sometimes Bottoms up. That they have never done Fall into Me or One hell of an Amen. Jake looks at her and said he just threw that at you and you did it live the first time? Cheyenne said yeah he does something different every night to throw me for a loop. It keeps me on my toes. Jake grinned and said its never boring I bet. Cheyenne laughs and says you are so right now changing the subject I love your music. I am a fan and follow you on social media. You are so open with your fans and your attitude is contagious. So keep up the good work! Lauren said she would see them later and left. Sierra and Colt , Ace and Ellie came up and BG makes introductions for everyone. Jake looks at Ellie and winks as he says I remember you front and center singing every word with me.  She said yep that was me. Saw you in concert with Kenny in Birmingham last year. It was amazing, I came back and told mom that was a concert we needed to go to. So that being said get Bham or Tuscaloosa on the tour schedule . He laughed and said thank you glad you enjoyed it and I will get  my people on that . Ace said are we gonna go out now cause I'm getting hungry. Sierras said you're always hungry bro. BG said sure we can go Jake you got plans ? Jake said not really BG told him that we would love to have join us the band and their families were coming to. Jake told them he would be honored to join them. They all left and went to Tin Roof. BG pulled out his wallet handed Ace the fake ID and said same rules son. Ace said you got it. Jake said what was that? BG said he's 17 ID says he's 19 to get him in so the people in charge don't get in trouble. Luke got it done when we were here for the CMT show and went celebrating . Jake said it must be cool to have you as a stepdad. BG told him he didn't know about that but it was cool to have 4 kids now.  They got in and found a couple tables together and got drinks and everyone was catching up since they hadn't see each other in 5 days. They asked how the road trip for BG and Cheyenne had gone. She told them it was great that it was nice to go off the grid for a couple days. Jake asked where they went and BG said drove up from Gulf Shores through Mississippi and stopped in Memphis and we were tourists. Cheyenne started laughing and looked at B and he grinned. Ben said tell me there were no bathroom incidents which made B just belly laugh. Cheyenne said no bathroom escapades this trip. Jake said I am missing something and Ellie said we are too. BG told them you don't want to know. Cheyenne said can you believe I got him to stay at the beach all day Monday? Jon said no way did he wear swimsuit or wear them dang sweatpants? Chey grinned he wore a swimsuit, BG said lay off she got in the water and swam so it wasn't like any other time I have been. Ben said I knew she was a good one. Different ones started dancing so Sierra and Ellie ask Cheyenne to go with them to dance. The guys said they would be there  in a bit. Jake asked BG, does Ellie have a guy cause I'm not about moving on someone's girl? BG said she did 5 days ago and the plan was he would be here but since he isn't I'm gonna take a guess that she's single.  However let me tell you that your best way in is to ask her yourself. Don't go around asking everyone else. Also be prepared for lots of overprotective uncles,and a step dad that will stomp your ass if you don't respect her. Those girls are different than what any of us are used to. You get me Jake? Jake tells him that he gets it and he just didn't want to step across any lines. BG gets up and said I'm going to stake claim on my girl and I suggest the rest of you do the same cause that group over there are about to make a move. They all look and it was like he said so the ones with wives and girlfriends got up and headed that way and Ben said Jake who you going for? Jake said I'm going for Ellie and Ben gave him a look. Jake said me or one of them? Ben said lets go. Jake comes up behind Ellie and starts dancing she turns around and smiles and tells him he scared her. Jake said y'all were about to be hit on so your white knights to the rescue. She laughed yeah that wouldn't end well with mr cavemen over there and pointed at BG. Jake laughs and says I bet. I wanted you to know that I did ask BG if you had a guy cause I didn't want to cross those lines. He told me you did 5 days ago but he wasn't here now so he really wasn't sure. So I am asking if you have a boyfriend ? Ellie looks at Jake and says no I don't we went our separate ways on Monday. Long story short I'm working 4 hours from home next semester in a coop and he said it probably wouldn't work because he took a job teaching and coaching and we would never see each other. I told him that if that is how he feels there was no reason to continue seeing each other now. So no I don't have a guy. Well then Can I have this dance Ellie? Asks Jake as a slow song started. She answers with I thought you would never ask.
Cheyenne looks at Ellie and Jake and asked BG Am I gonna have to take him out? BG said I don't think so but I have warned him he better respect her or he would have a lot of pissed uncles and stepdad who would stomp his ass.  Cheyenne laughs. BG looks at her and said I'm serious Chey. She said that's not why I'm laughing I'm laughing cause when we heard the announcement on the radio about Jakes divorce Ellie said I hate that for him and then very quickly said so that means I still have a chance right? This is so funny. They heard last call and they are started saying good bye and Ellie asked Jake if he was comin to the party tomorrow and he said no I didn't want to go alone so I declined. Ellie asks would you like to go with me? Jake tells her he would be honored to go with her. He kisses her cheek and said I had fun and I will talk to you later about times. She said that sounds good and I had fun too.
