It was noon when Calum decided to get Annie. He didn't understand what had happened with her, but either way she needed to eat.
He found her sleeping on the floor, right next to the bed. Calum tried to muster up a smile, because she looked cute and she needed some reassurance. He remembered when Michael had raped her the first time. She had ran away, been gone for days. And every day since she had had some sort of trama. It seemed like she was getting better, but now.... it's back to square one.
"Hey Annie," Calum said, shaking her shoulder gently. Her eyes fluttered open, and immediately she looked afraid.
"I'm sorry!" She scurried up, scooting backwards until she hit the wall. "Don't do it, don't do it!"
Calum raised his hands up in surrender, trying to keep his voice low. "It's okay Annie, it's okay. I'm not angry. Let's get some breakfast, yeah?"
The night before he had driven her to this house. He had rented it for a weekend because he had wanted some private time, just him and Annie.
The refrigerator was stocked, and he grabbed two yogurts. He had thought Annie had followed him, but she was still in her room, so he went and sat cross-legged across from her. Calum had a sly smile on his face as he slid a yogurt over to her.
Annie hesitated before opening it. She slowly dug in, starving. Calum suggested a shower, so Annie went into the strange bathroom.
She looked in the mirror, and almost cried. Her face was still puffy and red from crying, her eyes glass. Tangled hair, and a sickly yellow skin tone.
She looked like she was dead.
So Annie jumped into the shower, and made a vow to herself that she'd get better. She decided she didn't want to be the hysterical person she was yesterday.
When Annie got out of the shower, she was happy to see that she looked much better. She tried for a smile. The girl in the mirror mimicked it. It looked almost believable, so she got up and went back to 'her' room. There was trash bag there, full of her clothes. Calum must have grabbed them before they left.
So she got dressed, in clothes a bit more conservative than usual. and she went and found Calum and asked if they could cuddle. He looked surprised, but agreed.
Annie decided this was okay. She decided Calum wouldn't hurt her, and decided that she could handle what happened. She didn't want to be that crazy person she had been yesterday.
It felt nice being held by Calum. Annie had wanted to be with him before, and she needed to focus on her goals. She needed to get up, and continue with her life.
She decided she'd forget the name "Mikey".
