Acceptance
It was nighttime. Annie sat on the bed in her room, and tried to decide if this was okay.
She hadn't slept or even sat on the bed the entire time she and Calum haf lived there. She was afraid, afraid of the memories it would bring back- afraid, perhalps, that she would wake up to it happening again. But she realized now that that wasn't rational. It was time to get better.
So Annie sat on the bed, her bed, and decided that it was okay. She would sleep in the bed that night- it would be okay, much more comfortable than the floor. She was safe, nothing bad would happen.
Annie sighed, slouching and a rush of a strange feeling went through her. she felt- she felt- normal. She felt normal, and it felt so, so good. For the first time in months, Annie felt normal.
Annie felt normal.
Slowly, a wide smile spread across her face. She felt normal! Annie hadn't thought she'd ever be able to get better, didn't think she'd ever feel normal again. But here she is, here she is and she feels normal! Not just normal- she felt perfect!
Annie stood up, and made her bed. She was going to sleep in it tonight, she was going to sleep in it and it would be so nice.
Annie cleaned up her room, feeling excited, feeling happy, without a real reason besides the fact that she felt normal.
Annie had showered and changed into fresh, clean clothes. She wore a pair of pajama shorts and one of Calum's black shirts, that she hadn't worn in the entire time she was here. She brushed her teeth, ran her fingers through her damp hair, and smiled. Smiled because she was happy. Smiled because she was better, she was better and she was okay again and finally, everything felt right. It was as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders, and Annie felt incredibly light.
