Clint felt a sad smiled make its way across his face as he thought about her.
Y/N L/N.
Her smile was always strained. Her eyes always seemed dull. But her voice was alluring and entrancing.
When Clint first met her, he knew he wanted to get to know her.
As a friend.
He never planned to fall in love.
Like how he also didn't plan how he was going to save her.
But he wished he did.
He wished he planned to comfort her.
He wished he was there.
Just a little bit farther.
And maybe, she would be here beside him.
Smiling her genuine smile when she was around him.
Maybe if he just tried a little bit harder, he would be the one wiping the tears away from her eyes.
He would be the one to hold her hand.
He would be the one to wipe away the blood and reassure her that he was going to be there.
But he was.
And he still is.
Even though his heart is breaking in chunks when he sees her smile.
Knowing that it's not because of him.
Part of him wished he would just forget.
And be a good little soldier like he always was.
And maybe the lump in his throat would vanish when he sees her.
And then, maybe, he would see her as a friend, instead of a lover.
Just like how she sees him.
Clint blinked back the pain in his eyes as he dried out his tears and pulled out he last string of his heart.
The strings that just kept coming back, giving him the physical pain.
Maybe just a little farther, he would let her see that he wished to be more that friends.
And maybe she would smile and say yes.
That she actually accepted the fact that he was foolishly, unconditionally, infatuated with everything she touched, said, did, and liked.
Heck, he even tried playing the drums because she once said she found drummers hot.
But Clint eventually gave up, knowing that his fingers where only good at archery.
If he could only have a love arrow.
Then, with a little of a push... she would be his.
Clint gripped the paper in his hands as he wadded it up and threw it in the nearby trash.
The paper that made him fall into his despair.
You are invited to the union between
Y/N L/N
And
Andrew Starward
We hope you will be there."Yeah, I think I'm busy that day." Clint swallowed down his lie.
"Oh... um— I'll be sure to call you after though!" She tried to reassure him.
"No, it's okay." Clint said, staring out the window. "You enjoy your big day, it is your wedding after all."
