Y/N was falling. The air rushed past her as she felt her organs in her body floating. The oxygen in her lungs felt like it was sucked out.

She closed her eyes, trying to steady her fast breath and heartbeat. Her h/c hair was surrounding her vision as she closed her eyes.

But as soon as she was about to accept her fate, two arms lifted her up. Her body was suddenly anchored.  Her organs returned back to heir planned and air was breathed back into her lungs:

Her eyes popped open, surprised.

The first thing she saw was crystal blue eyes that were so clear she could see her reflection in them.

Her feet touched the ground as he sent her a dashing quick smile before flying off. She watched his red cape disappear from view before sucking back in another breath.

That was her first encounter with Superman.

______

On her hip, her box of possessions that she was allowed to bring was digging into her hip. Her sneakers squeaked as she open the door to her new cubical.

The huge windows that replaced the walls shone the bright sunlight that was reflected off the other skyscrapers blinded her.

Perry White glanced at his wristwatch. "You're late." He said, his voice void of emotion.

"Thank you for your patience," she smiled, sheepishly. "I'm not use to the big city traffic, it's been a while."

He huffed, letting her off the hook. He turned to the rest of the staring employees.

"This is Y/N L/N, she is a well respected writer that will be joining us." He said before returned back to his office.

She smiled at the employees. They quickly returned to whatever they were working on. Y/N glanced around and found a empty cubical.

When she finished unpacking, she glanced up and caught a gaze.

Her e/c met familiar crystal blue eyes. She frowned, feeling as if it was too familiar.

Clark scratched the back of his neck as he showed Y/N around Metropolis. Her eyes were sparkling with wonder as she admired the little cafe in a mall that he found.

"Have you ever been in a city before?" He asked, watching her cute face as she stared in wonder at the little cookie they ordered.

"Yes, but that was years ago. I was chasing a story in a small town a started working there because I loved it so much." She bit into the cookie. Clark didn't move, he just watched her. "But I missed the city life and the reporter/journalists life."

"Oh." He didn't know what to say. Being with Y/N was different than being with Lois.

Being with Lois is easy, it was a homey feeling with her. She was familiar, comforting, and just natural to be around.

But being with Y/N was like jigsaw puzzle. She was fascinating, different, and giving him the butterfly feeling that he never thought would be so overwhelming. He was unable to look away.

"I heard you grew up in a small town though." She said, sipping her drink.

"Yeah, a small town in Kansas." He smiled at the thought of his home. "It's homey there."
