Unshed Tears (Sam Wilson x Reader)

She guessed it was time to move on.

With his face lingering in her mind, she set her foot outside what was once their bedroom. The place she felt the most comfortable in was now a cage she was eager to leave.

His cold hearted grave voice, and sorry eyes wasn't enough to convince her to stay. His words tried to sway her to give him another chance. To show that he still cared for her, he tried everything but it was to much.

After some final thoughts and words exchange, she told him that she was leaving.

He asked if he would see her soon.

She stared at him, then looking away, she told him maybe.

Now, he was in the bedroom, head in between his hands as he had a stone cold expression and unshed tears. The house felt cold as he heard the door click softly leaving him in the silence he wasn't used to.

She slid the suitcase across the wood floor as she grabbed her car keys.

The broke house was silent, but you could feel the tension, silence, suffering and pain screaming in the air.

The keys rattle echoed in the room.

She tugged her hoodie tighter around her as she opened the front door.

Looking back, she scanned the hallway one last time.

He let her go, watching from the bedroom. The blankets and food couldn't drown out his regrets, thoughts and movements as his eyes stared at the back of her head.

She slipped into the car, starting the engine.

Her thoughts wondered if things ended differently where would they be now? What happened to all those late night talks, soft kisses and gentle words? Was he even fazed?

The air tasted salty with shed tears and thick silence coating the cold empty space in between them.

Wishing that the other would came back and they would laugh about this later, he stared as she drove away.

Scooping the water out of their eyes, they looked away, hearing the connecting hearts break they ignored the pain igniting in their chest.

If only the fire burning was warming them instead destroying them out.
