Kurt remembered when he saw her walking down the mansion hallway for the first time. And from his point of view, she was plain. The girl had wavy brown hair that swirled into ringlets around her waist with flawless porcelain skin. When she turned around, she had shining blue eyes that were glassy and pale.
She looked normal, like she fit in. Kurt thought it was boring.
It wasn't until she put up a impressive demonstration with her powers, surrounding a row of bushes and sucking the life out of them.
Kurt remembered how his jaw dropped along with everyone who was watching. She was truly flawless, but there was always something missing about her that Kurt never understood what.
Soon, he picked up a little things like how she never let him or anyone stay in the same room with her while she was asleep. Or how she got wary around mirrors, wrinkling her nose. Kurt also noticed how she always distanced herself from others.
And when he or others compliments her on her beauty, she would be strained and stiff.
He was curious to know what destroyed her so much to leave the shell behind that only resembled her. He just wanted to see the real her. But she never let him.
Her name was even plain, Lily. It was simple, plain and somehow fit her just right, he wondered if she was truly as flawless as she portrayed herself to be.
Kurt remembered when he teleported her to the rooftop for a surprise on her birthday, the look of surprise on her face was so innocent and pure, he wanted to see more.
She showed him a little peek at her past, hoping to push him farther but instead making him just want to get closer. Kurt saw her tears peeling out and wondered how she was beautiful even when she was crying.
She told him how her parents died by her hand and how she would never show him that side again.
The sunset and the stars were gorgeous, and he could just sit there forever. Maybe because that's when she finally lowered her walls down just a little.
A taste of her pain made him want to ease it away.
And when the stars aligned, she used her smoke and made shapes into the sky. It was a innocent moment, a blissful fragment of time that he would cherish forever because it hid a horrible future.
The world came crashing down. The smooth sky finally cracked while hell rained down. The beautiful shooting stars that admired from afar came straight for them. Blood painted the grass, the water turned to a black hue with the oil and poison.
And when they stood, hand in hand, staring at the chaos that surrounded them, they realized that the little paradise they had was gone.
But Kurt didn't feel alone, for once. He finally didn't feel alone.
The maker of the chaos stared at them, their beady eyes seem to know everything they hid. But Kurt suddenly was afraid when she let go of his hand to step back.
Her pale porcelain skin faded away to a midnight black that was so deep, it sucked his soul in. Her hair washed over in a sleek lavender purple while her eyes rolled up to reveal a blinding blue. A tail ripped from the surface of her skin, the end sharp. Fangs protruded out and only made her seem more vicious.
She somehow, still seem to entrance him.
He stared at her, memorized at the broken girl, that he fell in love with. But when she met his red eyes, she looked away in shame.
He reached out a hand, she shuddered away. Then, forgetting about him, she leaped into battle. This was the side she vowed never to reveal.
Kurt snapped back into reality, trying to fight along side her.
But when her scream ripped through the air, he immediately was by her side.
She was crying, like the rooftop. It was almost the end of the world, and just now it hit him when he love of his life was dying in his arms.
"I-I—" she coughed as Kurt shushed her. "I'm s-sorry, K-Kurt." She whispered.
Kurt stared at her lips and decided to plant a gentle kiss on her lips. She kissed back, and they cherished the seconds where all they felt was their lips while the world around them was dying.
"It's o-okay," he tried to smile through his tears. He wiped away her hair and blood on her cheek. "I-I love you."
She smiled, one last time and closed her eyes.
And now, Kurt was alone, again.
