Guys... this is it. This is the last Imagine/One-Shot I'm doing in this book.
So I decided to hold my promise in the beginning in the book and finish with this.
______
"Oliver..." Y/N leaned against the doorframe. Her grey cardigan slid off her shoulder to reveal her white tank top straps. She readjusted it. "We... we need to talk." Her voice sounded heavy.
Oliver tensed up. He hasn't spent enough time with these past few days because he as planning something special. He wondered if she was holding that against him.
Maybe it had something that do with her being distant and her guard raised up every time he touched her. Or maybe it was when every time these past months she smiled at him, it seemed strained and sad.
"I'm here." He said, hesitantly.
"Oliver... t-these past few days..." her voice struggled to say the next few words. "I haven't been honest with you." Tears peeked out at the edge of her usually bright e/c eyes. "Oliver, I-I'm so sorry."
"Y/N, what is it?" He asked, solemnly. Oliver felt dread as he waited for her next words.
"I cheated on you."
A deafening silence filled the room. Y/N cupped her hand over her mouth as silent tears fell down her cheek as Oliver just sat in complete shock.
"What?" Oliver asked, his voice completely serious.
"You weren't around and—and I guess I wanted someone to love me since you weren't around—no, I'm not going to blame you. It's all my fault and I understand if you want to leave me. I would too." Her voice sounded weird and quiet as she rambled. "I-I just... I just wanted you to know."
"Why?" He asked, simply. Oliver struggled to grasp why she would do that.
He had always been faithful. All he ever wanted was a happy ending with her, and now all his dreams are crashing down around him.
"I just don't feel anything between us—"
"So just tell me! Why did you have to go and cheat?" He almost yelled. Oliver struggled to keep his voice lowered.
"I-I know." Her voice was strangely calm and sad as she was admitting to her mistake.
It honestly scared Oliver that she was so calm and remorseful. He wanted her to be at least crying or have more emotion. It was like she almost accepted their break up.
He wanted to see her fight for their relationship, for them, for anything. But she was acting like this was bound to happen.
"What now?" He asked. His voice was void of emotion. Oliver was determined to match her tone.
To be honest, he didn't even know if he should fight for it when she wasn't even trying.
"I think you know what's next Oliver." She said, turning her back to him. "I'm sorry, Oliver. I love you but I think we should break it off."
But before she could leave the room, Oliver spoke up.
"Who was he?" He asked. "Was he good? Was he better than me?"
She stopped, not answering for a while.
"So this is it? You're not going to fight for us? Everything we every been through is gone? Does it mean nothing? Was I..." he froze. Guilt, realization and sadness seeped into his train of thoughts. "Was I really such a bad boyfriend?"
Y/N whipped her head around. Her eyes were full of tears. "No! Don't ever think like that, you were amazing and the best. You deserve better, better than me."
"I don't want better." He said, quietly.
"Why can't you just hate me?" She snapped at him. "Why can't you see that I'm not good, I'm a a liar, cheater, a total bitch and not worth your time."
"You are amazing, beautiful, breathtaking, genuine, kind and the best thing that ever happened to me." He replied, honestly. "The only person I would choose before anyone else." His voice cracked at the end.
"Oliver... just... just stop." Her voice was breaking. "I want to leave, guilt free. I don't deserve your love because I don't return it."
He didn't even realize tears were trailing down his face until she said that. He felt a thousand and maybe more pieces of his heart shattered. His mind fell numb, trying to comprehend what she just said.
"What?" He breathed out. "You mean... all of this was a lie?"
"I loved you, Oliver. But... things changed, people changed and times had changed." She stared down at her socks.
A quiet silence enveloped them. The soft patter of rain didn't help ease the tension. The water that ran a path down the glass matched the tears that ran down his cheeks.
"Goodbye, Oliver." She whispered, quietly.
He didn't stop her as she grabbed her suitcase he didn't notice her prepare but the door. The wheels in the bottom made a small sound that vanished the the door slammed shut.
His eyes were wide as the tears didn't stop. Part of him scolded himself for believing that this was all real. It was all too good to be true.
When she left, he released a loud yell he didn't know he was holding back along with his fist that yearned to punch out his frustrations.
Can you blame him? He just lost the person was was going to propose to, the person he wants to spend his entire life with, the person he thought who loved him back unconditionally as much as he loved her back.
