His cold exterior and the fact that he was so hard to satisfy makes it more fun to you. It wasn't something you like in guys, the fact that they played hard to get, but something about the way Stephen does it.
It just made you want to mess with him even more.
When he first came to train, you watched him and realize he was dedicated. Like everyone, he was a sceptic at first. But he warmed up to the idea and studied hard.
You befriended him. It was hard, but it turned out to be rewarding as he was someone you could always count on.
He thought you were annoying. Especially the way you made everything seem easy. Even in the most dire scenarios, you always come through with seemingly no effort. It pissed him off. And he was determined to be better and find your secrets.
Stephen planned to get on a personal level with you and discover your secret on how you manage to jump off a cliff into a pit of danger and end up still without a scratch.
But no. You were annoyingly perfect.
"I hate you, Y/N." He sighed. His fingers combed through his hair was they breathed heavily. They just literally jumped out a building and landed on a pool of floating water that Y/N had summoned to catch them.
You laughed. "Love you too, Stephen." A hysterical laughter bubbled up in your chest as you giggled while wiping the went hair out of your face.
Stephen felt his heart skip a beat when you said that. You always said it, but it gave him the goosebumps every time. You started saying it when he got to a personal level with you and it was nice.
"You're such a idiot." He got up and offered you a hand.
You were still lying down on the pavement, laughing. But when your eyes shoot up to meet his, he swore, your eyes sparkled. Maybe it was the way your eyes crinkled with a smile and when you clasped his hand, it shot electricity up his spine.
Stephen muttered a drying spell for Y/N as he wiped away water droplets of his own hair.
"Thanks." She smiled, returning the favor for him.
"Did you get the amulet?" He asked.
You noticed that he dried you first and he asked for the amulet after he made sure you were okay. You smiled to yourself, feeling accomplished that you successfully befriended the cold Stephen Strange to this stage.
"No, we'll have to chase them." Her eyes glanced up at the helicopter flying away.
Stephen didn't answer, he just studied the helicopter as it flew off into the distance.
They were suppose to track down this really powerful amulet. The amulet was in the hands of a powerful CEO who planed to auction it off to the highest bidder. They had to get it before things get to complicated.
"Where do you think he's heading off to?" You asked.
"Tokyo." Stephen said, firmly. "I heard him say that to the flier."
You beamed, "That's great, I love Tokyo." Your hand lifted up to summon a portal.
______
Stephen smiled stiffly at the security guard as he, himself, wore the security suit. Y/N insisted that they needed to do this discreetly even though they already caused a lot of attention to be directed toward them by jumping off a building in Shanghai.
Y/N was suppose to cause a distraction, and knowing you, he knew that you would probably bomb the west wing because why not.
And surely enough, the alarms rang sharply through the air. The guard next to him held up his walkie talkie and what was going on. Stephen acted oblivious.
"Watch the boss." The guard told him.
"What happened?" He asked, acting dumb.
"There's some idiot that bombed the east wing with glitter and slime." The guard replied, rolling his eyes. "Probably a dumb teenager who doesn't know who they're messing with."
Stephen nodded.
Suddenly the speaker blasted Hello Kitty by Avril Lavingne. The guard raised his eyebrows.
"Wow." He muttered, impressed and sort of sarcastic before rushing off to the east wing.
Stephen waited as he disappeared before turning around. He immediately met Y/N's smile.
"Slime and glitter?" He asked, hiding the fact that you scared him by popping up out of nowhere.
"Yes." You grinned, proud of yourself.
Then turning around, you casually pulled a bazooka out of your own f/c cloak. Unlike, Stephens, yours was just a plain one.
Stephen held up his hands, prepared to shoot any spells.
Inside was a dozen guards and a CEO who had a fake calm face and clutching a brief case in his arms.
"How much do I have to pay you to stop bothering me?" The CEO man asked.
"Your life." Stephen replied.
"I mean," Y/N raised a eyebrow. "How much are we talking about here?"
"Y/N!" He hissed.
"What?" She asked innocently.
But before the guards could attack them, Y/N snapped her fingers and quicksand replaced the hard tile floor they were standing on.
"We just want the amulet." Y/N smiled. She looked too pure to be powerful to Stephen.
"No." The CEO frowned, still clutching on to the brief case, stubbornly.
You gritted your teeth and raised the bazooka and grinned. "Smile."
The CEL shrieked and jumped out of the way as slime exploded out of the bazooka.
"Slime?" Stephen gaped at her immaturity.
"It's enchanted!" You defended.
The CEO tried to escape but Stephen cornered him and punched him in the face. The CEO face planted on to the floor as Stephen ripped the brief case out of his hands.
"It's locked." He announced. "Maybe the key is in here somewhere."
You rolled your eyes. Then, the bazooka turned into a axe and you took a swing and smashed it open. The glowing amulet was in there and you snatched it up, grinning smugly.
"I hate you." Stephen glared at Y/N.
You put a arm around him, beaming. "I know, love you too."
Stephen felt a blush creep into his cheeks as he realized there was people watching them. The guards weren't really watching them as they struggled to get out of the quicksand but he still felt embarrassed by his feelings.
Y/N payed no attention as you summoned a portal.
"Hello Kitty?" He asked, remembering the music.
"I was trying to set the mood!" You defended. "We are in Tokyo."
"Is that racist?" He asked.
"No, shut up."
No matter how childish your tactics were, you still seemed perfect in his eyes. For now, he was fine on being your friend because he doesn't realize his feelings. He wondered if he did have feelings for her. Stephen wondered if he would like to be more than a friend.
Y/N turned around, raising a eyebrow. "Do you want a invitation?"
Stephen smiled a he stepped through the portal with you. His hand crept to intertwine with yours.
"Aww." She gushed, rising up their hands. "You're cute."
"Shut up." He snapped, blushing. But none of you guys let go.
