~January 2011~
"Son it isn't your fault." My stepfather Robin assured me as we knelt at the alter. The minute I walked in the door after the two hours drive he insisted we come here and pray.
But what is there to pray for anymore.
My mother and sister Gemma rushed to make plans for Carolina's funeral, her family had moved back to Arizona shortly after we graduated high school. While I had been given a full ride to Mercer University, Carolina had decided to move with me and work full time while I went to school. That was how she was, she couldn't stand being away from me. She'd do anything to stay with me, even waitressing at a local pub. I hated the idea of her working there but with school and football I couldn't balance a job on top of it.
Ever since that first day we met at church we quickly became inseparable. She was just a few months younger then me and had just transferred to the same small private high school I was attending. Our school was so small in fact that she and I had every class together. By the end of September we had quickly became best friends.
I asked her out on a date that following Valentines day with permission from her family of course. She was just so special. So innocent but still alluring, so kind but not without a backbone. Carolina was my perfect match and I was absolutely smitten with her.
"Pray with me son." Robin breaks me out of my memories as he bows his head and begins to pray. "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name."
"This is bullshit." I spat out as I held myself back from slamming my hands into the alter.
"Harry it's going to be ok, she's with God now." Robin says softly as he grips my shoulder
"She shouldn't be, she should be with me. With us."
"God has a plan for her son." Robin insists, his faith always at the very forefront.
"Fuck God." I hissed before turning away and heading down the church aisle.
"Do not forsake your Lord Harry Edward Styles!" Robin shouted after me, I look down at my left hand and see the cross tattoo I had gotten two years ago as a symbol of my affirmation in God.
Clenching my fists I look back at my stepfather over my shoulder. "It's not I that has done the forsaking Robin, God did that the moment he took her away from me." I snarled before ripping the silver cross from my neck and throwing it on the ground. Robin shouts my name as I take long strides out of the church.
