Draven's POV
Cata shoots up from bed and stands awkwardly in place. Noah looks hurt, angry, confused. "Do I even want an explanation?" He asks her. She looks down, twisting the ring. "You look really proud of yourself," he tells me.
"What the hell? I'm just laying down," I say with a chuckle. I can't take him seriously. His eyes trail to the gun and knife. "Ignore those." His eyes widen and he looks back at Cata before rushing to her.
"Did he threaten you? Did he say he'd kill you?" He asks. She yanks her hands out of his; I hadn't noticed he had took them in his own.
"No," she snaps. I stand up and place the weapons back in my pockets. He looks at me in fear. Over time, I've learned to enjoy being feared.
"Did you really kill that guy? And your father?" I step towards him at the mention of my dad, but Cata gets in front of me, gripping my waist.
"Don't. Calm down," she tells me. She turns back around.
"So I get the feeling you haven't been faithful?" He asks. She shakes her head and I laugh. "You find this very amusing don't you?"
"No, he just laughs in awkward situations," she tells him for me. I remember I was once nervous in court and started laughing. People had turned and looked; they also made me take a drug test. "I was going to tell you when we got back to California-"
"Your such a bitch," he says under his breath. She doesn't look hurt by the comment, but it angers me. If it weren't for her I front of me, I would have hit him.
"I know I am for this," she says. "But I couldn't help it. I know that isn't what you expected me to say, but I'm not going to lie."

Noah left last night and Cata leaves today. I hold her tightly to my chest as if she won't leave my arms eventually. "Stay," I tell her. She chests her chin on my chest and looks into my eyes.
"You know I would, but I want to finish school there. I'll come back this summer and things will be better." All I can hope is that it will be. Maybe I'll be in prison for all the shut I've done by that time. Or six feet under. Death seems more appealing.
"Okay."

FOUR YEARS LATER
Catalina's POV
I roll over on my aide, reaching out for my boyfriend but only find a cold, empty space. Moving to stand, I realize I'm still naked from last night's activities.
My body is still tired, but I'm fully awake. I stop in my tracks as I Cody and Mark talking to Draven in the living room. My eyes can't help but admire the tight, flexing muscles in his back.
Cody and Mark leave, the door closing lightly behind them. Quietly, I walk over to Draven and wrap my arms around his waist from behind. Kissing his shoulder blades he turns around and grins. "You okay? You look pale." He shakes his head, his eyes avoiding mine. That's how I know he's lying. "You can't lie to me and you know it."
He throws his head back groaning. "Dominic, another worker for Tig we captured, got ahold of his gun and shot himself in the head; Probably knew he couldn't fight his way out. Anyways, now we lost leverage."
My fingers slowly trace the scar going from his right collarbone, to the center of his hard chest. "What about Kieran?" I ask. He shrugs.
"We're still deciding what to do with him. We can't just let him go cause he'll run and tell, and we can't kill him cause despite what he says, he knows things." I look at the carpet.
"Its been five years, why haven't you given up on him ratting?" I ask. His arms drop from my waist.
"Cause he makes good weapons." He walks into the kitchen and gets coffee. "How do you feel about all of this?" He asks. "I don't think I've ever asked you that and for that sorry. When we got together you didn't sign up for this."
I stride over. "I didn't sign up for this...business thing, but I did know that you would come with baggage. This is apart of that and I have to deal with it." He doesn't look at me before walking away. "I didn't mean that in a bad way, I just-"
"You wish it were different," he says. I can't say that has wrong. "So do I. I can get out of this whole thing, put someone up front for me, bit I can't do that." My shoulders slump. He had given me a sense of hope that it would be over, then he shut it down.
"Is it fair for me to ask why you can't?" My voice is thick and tired. I should be getting ready for work.
"For years I've had the image of my father dead at my feet, a hole in his head from a bullet. The pain I felt that day, has stays with me and I know that until I know that that son of bitch is dead, that pain isn't going to go away."
