Cata's POV
I tug nervously at my sleeves, taking deep breaths to calm myself. My mom isn't home, so I have to face my dad alone. Draven suggested that he should be with me when I ask about my birth father, but I want my father to be as content as possible.
"Here," he says as he sets a cup of coffee on the table. I turn so I'm facing his, twisting the ring. His eyes drop down to it and he sighs. "Are you here to try and convin-"
"No, I've given up on that. We eloped," I tell him. Hurt flashes across his face. He knew I wouldn't if had a wedding if he didn't approve cause I knew he wouldn't come. "I came to talk to you about something more serious."
"You're pregnant," he says. I laugh lightly.
"No, dad. I wish though." He scratches the side of his head, squeezing his eyes shut as if that was the worst that could have been said. "I know I'm adopted." His expression becomes blank, but his eyes look angry.
"Who told you?" He demands, his voice never like I've heard it before. "This wasn't supposed to happen," he says to himself.
"I've known for almost six years now, but never thought it mattered, cause no matter what your my dad," I tell him. He seems to calm a little. "But I think in deserve to know some things. Not everything, but some."
"Your mother and I loved you with all our hearts from the moment you were born. We were meant to just be your God parents, but things happened. Tig was a good man in some ways, and a monster in others. No matter what, his first priority was family, so when things got serious, he came to us with you. Him and Raven were friends, but the business teared them apart."
"Wait, who's Raven?" I ask. He takes a deep breath and looks at my ring again.
"Draven's father." My heart stops for a second; they were friends. "That business turned into a gang and it got nasty real fast. They were on opposing sides and that wasn't good. Things got violent and he was scared for Linda, Kieran, and you. Kieran was old enough to the point were he could understand everything, but you were so young.
One night he and Linda came to your mom and me. He explained that he didn't want you getting hurt, and needed us to take you; raise you to think we were your birth parents. We did it without hesitation. There were tears running down his face when he left. He stayed in your life for a few years after, we said he was your uncle. Then he fled after he killed Raven."
I release a deep breath. A million thoughts are going through my head. There was a certain reason I came here for this, but I've totally ignored that.
"You knew Draven's dad?" He nods.
"Yes, and him and Raven are so much alike. When I look at Draven, I'm reminded of the man that killed my cousin. He brought his family into that business, knowing how dangerous it was."
"That's why you don't like Draven, cause he reminds me of him." He nods again.
"I seen Tara hurt many times because of Raven. It was never abusive, but the things he did weren't right. I don't want to see that happen you."
"Dad, why didn't you tell me this before?" I ask. He shrugs. "Did you guys ever keep in contact with him?" He nods and stands. He walks to the hutch and gets out a box.
He sits back down and hands me it. I open it to see letters and pictures. "They're all for you. He said if you ever want to meet him, your more than welcome." I nod and close the box.
"Thank you."

Dear Catalina,
By the time your reading this your probably confused. So am I cause I'm wondering how you've found out the truth. I know Logan would never disown my trust, but I am left to wonder.
I'm sorry I've left you, I tried staying in your life as long as I could in the safest way possible. My life isn't a good or safe one; I know that you are safe now with your godparents.
You've probably been told what happened and I'm sorry you've found out from someone other than me. From the moment you were born you were my princess, and I would do anything to keep you safe.
Never think for a second that me leaving you had to do with lack of love for you, cause that not it at all. As I said before, the life I lead isn't safe. Leaving down and leaving you with a safe family is what will keep me as content as possible.
I pray that you will never be drawn into this life in anyway. This kind of life isn't one for you or anyone. One day I hope you can forgive me and understand why I did this. If you ever want to meet, I will find a way to make that happen.
I love you with all my heart -Dad
