As per their daily ritual, Nino expected a cheerful greeting from his blond best friend, who was normally happy to attend school - seeing it as a more social gratifying alternative to his private lessons and photo shoots. Thus was not the case today, as Adrien seemed to be preoccupied with his own thoughts.
"Dude, what's up?"
"Emma... Louie... Hugo..." Adrien muttered, indeterminately to himself or as answer to his friend.
"Who are they?" Nino queried.
"I don't know, they were in my dream last night." Adrien now definitely spoke to Nino. "Three kids, they were siblings I think. The rest is unclear, you know how you can know things in a dream and they're gone when you wake up. Yet I somehow feel like they're important."
"Dude! What if you could have a prophetic dream!"
"Really? Like how?"
"Maybe those kids are in trouble and your dream contains some kind of clue needed to save them!"
"I don't think they were in trouble, they were happy. We were happy. I remember, I was an adult in that dream and they were my family. It wasn't anything like my parents, it felt more like what a family should be."
"So it was just you and three kids?"
"No, come to think of it, their mother was there, but I can't see her clearly. I think I knew who she was in the dream, it's just fuzzy after waking up." Adrien was pretty sure it was Ladybug, or rather, her civilian form (whomever she was); but trying to tell that to Nino would require a lengthy explanation.
Nino laughed at his friend. "It's probably better you don't know, dude. That would be pretty awkward. Just imagine: "Hey, whoever-she-is, you were in my dream last night... as the mother of my children!'"
"Yeah, I probably want to avoid that," Adrien said more to make conversation than anything else. He wondered if the girl in his dream could really be Ladybug. Was his subconscious mind capable of knowing the answer to the very question that tormented his waking mind?
Conversation drifted to other topics as they themselves drifted indoors to their seats. Their peers filled in around them and soon enough class was started, but all spare parts of Adrien's mind were devoted to trying to recall his dream.
There he was in a reasonably sized kitchen, as large as any person could really want, but lacking the extra floor space that would only function to display wealth - that was the kind of home in which he wanted to live. With him were three bright, Lively children; whom he corralled out of the way of a smiling laughing woman who prepared the children's food. Nearby, floated Plagg along with a red, black-spotted creature of comprable size. Adrien could see the kwami clearly, at least that proved that his dream-wife - for lack of better term - really was Ladybug. "Emma, Louie, and Hugo Agreste." He said out loud while smiling.
A loud 'thunk' was heard behind them. Alya was watching the boys with a suprised smirk, and when they turned to look beside her, they found the source of that sound - the head of a now unconscious Marinette colliding with her desk.
" is she okay?" asked Adrien.
"Probably not," Alya's laughing tone of voice betrayed the words she spoke. "You probably gave her a heart attack!"
"Me?!" Adrian asked incredulously. "What did I do?"
"Let's see." Alya ticked off points on her fingers. "One, her crush, two, says the names of her fantasy future children, and three, adds his own last name to them. Does that explain it well enough for you?"
In face of the other piece of information, Adrien wasn't even really phased to learn that Marinette had a crush on him. He'd kind of suspected it, what with all her nervous rambling and random praise. He was amazing at holding stuff in his hands... really. It was on Alya's count of 'two' that he felt weak, and was glad he was already sitting down.
Miss Bustier had been busy helping another student, but as soon as she saw what was going on, she came rushing over to help. "Marinette! What happened to her?!"
"Adrien gave her a heart attack!" Alya chortled unhelpfully.
"It's not that bad Miss Bustier. She just fainted, that's all" Nino amended, trying to avoid humiliation for his best friend if possible.
"Thanks," Adrien whispered to his friend. Then a faint blush spread across his cheeks. "It was her. Marinette was in my dream."
"Dude, I can totally see that!" Nino laughed. " I am so telling Alya later!"
Oh no, Marinette's super protective best friend could not be allowed to know. Adrien whirled back around in his seat, fearing the blogger had already heard. Alya was nowhere in sight. "Where is she?"
"She took Marinette to the nurse's office, weren't you paying attention?"
Adrien sighed in relief. "You can't tell her about this!"
"You're acting like you're more afraid of Alya finding out than Marinette."
"Maybe I am, but you can't tell either girl, please!" Adrien begged his best friend.
"Alright, dude, don't worry! I've got your back, always." This was all absolutely hilarious to him.
"For the hundredth time, man, thanks."

By the time a warning bell rang, to tell students their second period class would start in five minutes, Marinette was feeling well enough to return to class.
Marinette's face bloomed in color when Alya dragged her over near Adrien, her anxiety only growing when it was impossible to miss that for once his own face reflected hers.
"We're both dying for an explanation of earlier!" Alya declared.
"No! I mean, if you don't have to, you don't want -" Marinette's ramble was cut off by a sharp jab from Alya.
"So, you were talking about a dream." Alya prompted him. "Marinette was somewhere in it, and judging by your expression... IT BETTER NOT HAVE BEEN THAT KIND OF DREAM, AGRESTE!"
"No, no, nothing like that" Then thinking of the three children he mused "Though I suppose it implied that already happened."
Marinette whimpered while Alya tapped her foot, scowling. "Do expound for us."
"I, um..." How was Adrien going to approach this? He himself wanted answers about his dream, but he wasn't so desperate as to purposely humiliate himself.
"Marinette, does the word 'Kwami' mean anything to you?"
