Marinette meant to clean her room, she really did, but sometimes she was needed at the drop of an akuma, so she just hadn't gotten around to it.
Because of this, Sabine was going to fulfill her threat and promise of cleaning her daughter's room for her, and was purposely going to snoop around. A good teasing about something she hadn't wanted her parents to know should be enough to prompt Marinette to do it herself the next time.
Sabine chuckled to herself as she noticed the cork board bedecked with pictures of Adrien Agreste. That was old news, she and Tom had used it for all it was worth, and Marinette was now resigned to them knowing. Time to look for something else.
She went about the task of cleaning the room, all the while keeping an eye out for something else embarrassing. No luck, she even sifted through the files on Marinette's computer, but all potentially embarrassing content was on the already well-worked topic of Adrien.
She did find one little scrap of new ammunition: the names Emma, Louis, and Hugo. The last time Sabine had checked, the fantasy children didn't have names yet. She could use that, but it was more of a side comment, she still needed to find the main course that would teach Marinette to take care of her own business.
Her eyes fell on the locked diary box. "Desperate times call for desperate measures." Sabine wasn't about to try messing with the lock, she knew her daughter well enough to suspect the front of the box was set with some sort of booby trap that only Marinette knew how to bypass. Instead, she fetched the screwdriver that Marinette kept for adjusting her sewing machine, and focused her attention on the back hinges.
"Here we go." She commented as the box finally popped open. She was now able to safely lift the pink book from its nest and flip it open.
"Seconds away from revealing my true identity to Chat Noir." The open page greeted Ladybug's mother. Sabine snapped the book shut, she'd wanted her daughter's secrets, she needed to be careful what she wished for.
By the time Marinette got home her mother was down stairs again, having safely reassembled the diary's fortress the way she had found it. Sabine smiled and dropped one, neatly packaged bombshell on her daughter. "Did you hear what Ladybug plans to name her future children? Emma, Louis, and Hugo."
Marinette screamed.
