A/n - As requested by multiple people - a sequel to 'Who Are They'. 'Who Are They' is set in season 1, and as its sequel, this one takes place right after it. As such "kwami" doesn't mean anything to Alya or Nino.
Adrien glanced sideways at Marinette. "So... what do you think we should do?"
"Um... go after them?"
Adrien had been forced to retell a version of the dream, purposely omitting that the kids in the dream were their own. He'd already told Nino, and the girls were apparently familiar with these kids from Marinette's own fantasies. They'd both heard him attach his name to the kids. That should be enough to figure the rest out; no need to embarrass himself more. Except, Nino seemed to have forgotten that detail. He excitedly told Alya his thought that it was a prophetic dream and the kids were in trouble.
"Nino, hold on," Adrien had sighed. "I told you, I think they were my kids." So much for not having to voice that one.
"Oh, right..."
"Hold on," Alya had interjected. "Marinette, tell them where you got those names in the first place. Wasn't that some sort of dream?"
"Oh, yeah, I was lost in what looked like an abandoned warehouse of some sort. There were three little kids with me who were scared and crying, so I was trying to calm them down and find our way out of the building. I felt, I don't know, connected to those kids, so I kept their names."
"See! Those are the ones Nino was talking about! The ones crying for help. How long ago was it you had that dream?"
"About four months ago, but..."
"Four months! Those kids were already in trouble four months ago? I hope they're still alive! But, they must be, because now they reached out to Adrien."
"Hey, dudes?" Nino had asked for their attention. "I think I know of an abandoned warehouse near here. Should we check it out?"
Nino and Alya had decided to go check out the building Nino had in mind, disappearing while Marinette stuttered, trying to tell them another key piece of information. By the time she had gotten it out, Adrien was the only one still there to hear her. "I have no idea why they were crying in an abandoned warehouse, but those were my kids."
"I know," Adrien had answered. "In dreams, you just know."
"Yep, we should definitely go after them."
--
"Have you had a recent dream about three kids in a warehouse? Okay, let me know if you do. Oh! Or if you hear anyone else mention a dream like that."
"Alya! What are you doing?"
"Nino had it! He had the same dream you did, so we're checking to see if anyone else had it as well. The warehouse we checked yesterday wasn't the right one, so hopefully someone has a clue that will help us find the right one."
"Alya! There aren't any kids to be rescued! I know that because in the dream they were my kids. Adrien could see them too because, well..."
"Sorry girl, but I just don't believe it. That may be how they manifested in your dream, but now that Nino's seen them, there must be another reason for them being there. Think, did they look like you?"
"They, um, sorta..."
"So they didn't really look like you. It just didn't make sense why you would be with them, so your sleeping brain filled in the details. That must be it. Now, I've already asked everyone between those two windows going about to the center of the room. Why don't you take that section there? I'll work counter-clockwise and we can meet on the other side."
