A/n - For the record, I'm such a sucker for happy endings that I hope cannon finds a way to revive Adrien's mother, but that's not to be for this one-shot. Prior to the events of this story, Adrien and Marinette discover Gabriel's goal in being Hawkmoth. They forgive him and convince him that he has to move on.

"What are you writing?"

"Uh... nothing!" Marinette marked the page in her diary and set it on her sewing table, sliding it underneath one of the many sketchbooks full of her unique clothing designs. "A-at least - nothing important."

"Come on, Bugaboo!" Adrien placed an arm around his girlfriend's shoulder. "What do you have to hide from me? We know each other's biggest secrets! We've been together long enough. If I were you, I'd let me read your diary."

Marinette rolled her eyes at him. They'd been over this before; she couldn't fathom why he'd become so interested in her diary. Typically, she'd been protective of the reading material that could reveal her double life as Ladybug, but this was Adrien. He knew that. There shouldn't be anything left in that book that would be of interest to him, which meant... she shouldn't be worried about him looking at it.

"Fine." She retrieved the book and passed it to him. You're the first person ever to be allowed to read it, and probably the last."

"What! Really?" Adrien looked in surprise at the closed book. "You'll really let me?"

"If you don't want it..." Marinette slowly retracted her hand from him, tease for tease, knowing curiosity was going to get the best of him.

"No!" Her boyfriend snatched the book away from her, opening it to the page marked. His eyes skipped over the page, not finding anything that truly caught his attention. "Huh."

"It's a page turner, isn't it?" Marinette asked him, amused by his expression as he searched for an embarrassing secret without finding it. Most of the recent pages recounted events he had personally experienced together with her, and the few that weren't were a recap of events of which she'd already told him. "Maybe I really don't have any more secrets from you."

"There has got to be something interesting in here!" he denied, flipping backwards through the book. "Hold on! You tried to give away your miraculous to Alya?"

Marinette flinched; she'd all but put that detail out of her mind herself. "Yes. After I messed up on my first time as Ladybug, I didn't want to try it again. I barely knew Alya back then, but she seemed like such a strong and confident person, I thought she'd make a great superheroine."

"She does!" Adrien agreed, "Rena Rouge is an excellent addition to our team! But, where would we be without you?"

"Don't worry, I no longer have any desire to give up Tikki."

"That's good." Adrien returned his attention to looking through the book. A few minutes later, Marinette heard him starting to sniffle.

"Adrien! What's wrong?"

"Did anyone ever tell you my mother's name?"

Marinette thought about it, but she couldn't come up with an answer. Adrien had opened up to her about memories of his mother - but as would be expected of a child speaking of a parent, never used her name. The only other person who had said anything about her in Marinette's presence was Adrien's father, and he seemed to consciously avoid the word, as though the sound of his late wife's name were too painful for him to utter. "No, I don't think anyone ever did."

"Emilie. Her name was Emilie. It's not quite the same, but it's close enough that if we have a daughter named Emma, it would be like we were honoring my mother."

Emma. Emma, Louis, and Hugo. Adrien had found the single most embarrassing thing in that book that she hadn't thought to hide from him. Or had he? What else was she forgetting? "You found that?"

Adrien recognized the tensing in Marinette's muscles; her flight instinct had been activated. 'Where is she going to flee to? We're in her room!' "No, no! It's sweet, Marinette, I love it!" Since it was only them, he allowed himself to cry openly - but a smile came to his face even then. "I know it's not the way you meant it, but I would love for us to have a daughter named after my mom."

Marinette blinked back some tears of her own. This was a first. By now she knew well how important she was to Adrien, but this was her first indication he saw her beyond the present. She was in the future. Marriage? Kids?

"I do have one question, Marinette."

"Hmm?"

"What would we name our hamster?"
