Marinette wasn't a bridezilla. For all the obsessive plans she'd been making months in advance, she imposed more exacting tasks on herself than on her friends and family. Now, only four days before the wedding, her frenzied activity had come to an end - but the zealous young woman was unable to rest.
"Calm down, girl," Alya chided her friend. "Save some things to worry about after you're married. You don't have to figure everything out right now."
"I know," Marinette rested her chin in her hand. "I just wonder..."
"No you don't, you've done enough wondering for one day."
"I wonder what I would be like as a mom. Adrien and I have already agreed we definitely want to have kids. It's just a question of when, and how many, and what sort of parenting style we'll choose, and..."
"Marinette..."
"I love kids, but I'm a pushover with them; you've said so yourself! One look at a begging child and I give him whatever he wants. It turns out okay when I'm babysitting - I just threaten to tell the kid's mother - but if I were the kid's mother..."
"Marinette! You learned on Manon Chamak! They don't come any more difficult than that girl. I promise you, you'll be a great mother."
"Alya's right, Bug," Adrien interjected, passing through the room. "You doubt yourself way too much. When we have a child, he'll start off as a baby; he won't do much more than sleep, cry, eat, and poop. He'll grow one day at a time, and we'll learn how to manage as that happens."
"I guess you're right," Marinette sighed with relief. "I just want it all to be perfect. I've been dreaming of having children much longer than I've had any business to do so."
"Since you were thirteen?" Alya teased. "Don't worry, genetics is on your side. Think about it. The factors that contribute to a child's behavior are from nature and nurture. We've already been discussing parenting methods; all that's left is the innate personality of the child. Any child you give birth to is going to be easy to get along with, and you can't forget the man who is going to be their father. Your fiance grew up well despite having bad parents."
"Hey!" Adrien protested.
"That's a complement to you, Agreste," Alya pointed out. "Trust me, with you two for parents, your children are going to be easy."
