To Kiss a Ladybird

How had Marinette gotten herself into this? Maybe because she was such a pushover to her best friend, even while she was in her alter ego.

Collège Françoise Dupont was having a school fair, and Alya had an idea for a fundraiser. They were going to have a "Kiss a celebrity: 5€" booth, and who were the stars? Ladybug and Chat Noir of course.

Alya had hunted down the heroes herself and persistently badgered them until they agreed to do it. She even offered them a cut of the profits, but they both declined. Even if their kwamies hadn't expressly told them so, they had a hunch their miraculouses weren't for their own personal gain.

When Marinette first agreed to it, she figured all she would have to do is stand there for a few hours. Nobody was going to spend money to kiss her, with or without the mask. She was wrong, nearly the entire school was gleefully whispering to their friends "I dare you to go kiss Ladybug" or "I dare you to go kiss Chat Noir".

Since no teenager wanted be called the coward who turned down a dare, the line for them grew ridiculously long. Never in her life had Marinette though she would kiss that many boys. She'd already had her first kiss with Chat, but there went her second, third, sixteenth, the poor girl was not counting anymore.

The most awkward kiss was with Nathaniel, since she knew he liked her but she couldn't like him back that way. 'He doesn't recognize me,' she reminded herself. That helped, a little bit.

Then, while Chat was on break, a familiar blond boy joined the line waiting for her. 'Adrien, what are you doing?!' she mentally screamed at her crush. This wasn't how she imagined she would finally get to kiss him.

Her mind was in such a state she could no longer feel the kisses as he came closer to the front of the line.

"H-hi." Crisis alert! Adrien was in front of her, he was going to kiss her, and to compound her nerves, he was stuttering. None of the other boys had done that. Why was he so nervous?

Ladybug squeezed her eyes shut and leaned  in. Her lips connected with Adrien's, and after a few brief seconds, she was on to the next boy, but her mind stayed behind.

It felt different than all the other kisses, of course it did. Most of them were an unpleasant experience that she just wanted to stop as soon as possible. A few were vaguely comfortable, leaving her to shake off the surprising emotions that came as an after affect. Only with Adrien, however, did she feel a strong rush of a tingling sensation shoot between her lips and her brain, before it trickled down to tease her entire being. Maybe it was like that because she already liked him, but it only caused her to like him more. She wondered, did he feel it too?

She had no way of knowing it, but they answer was yes. After the kiss, Adrien leaned up against a tree around the side of the school, trying to wrap his mind around what had occurred. He was a little jealous that so many boys were kissing his lady, but he knew that was the only reason he'd been able to accomplish doing so himself. Plus, none of these other boys were going to kiss her again, he would. A stupid grin littered his face as he considered getting out another 5€ and getting back in line. Unfortunately, he knew he couldn't, Chat Noir was due back on duty.

Finally, the time came for Ladybug to go on break and straighten out her abused emotions. She had officially decided that "Kiss a Celebrity" booths were a preposterous tradition.

Now in the unassuming form of Marinette, she wandered out of the bathrooms and into the schoolyard, intent on enjoying the rest of the fair. She noticed that Chat was back at the booth, and couldn't help but smirk at the look of discomfort on his face as he kissed Chloe and then Sabrina.
