Two days ago, an akuma went rampaging in the middle of the night.
Two days ago, the akuma had targeted a particular bakery.
Two days ago, Ladybug and Chat Noir evacuated the couple who lived there.
Two days ago, Tom and Sabine frantically told the heroes that their daughter was still upstairs.
Two days ago, Ladybug assured them she wasn't.
Two days ago, Chat insisted they check anyway.
Two days ago, Ladybug couldn't alleviate her parents' or partner's fear.
Two days ago, Marinette snuck back into her room in the early morning hours.
Two days ago, her parents were waiting for her.
Two days ago, Marinette's parents found out she was Ladybug.
Two days ago, Marinette neglected to tell her parents anything about her kwami.
Now, Tikki was taking it upon herself to introduce herself to her host family. They already knew the dangerous piece of information, so they might as well meet their houseguest. She hoped no one screamed.
"Hello."
Marinette's mother screamed, and her father threw a clear drinking glass over what seemed to be an enormous insect.
"I see where your daughter gets it now." Tikki smiled reassuringly to both of them. "I'll ask you the same thing I asked her when we first met, feel better now?"
"You know Marinette?"
"Very well."
Tikki's body shape did not match that of a common ladybug, but her coloring was distinctly so, so as her human's parents reclined into normal mental function, they were able to notice the correlation. "Is this because she's Ladybug?"
"Yes, I'm Tikki, her kwami, a magical being that allows her to transform by entering her miraculous."
"I suppose I can let you out now." Tom reached for the glass.
"Don't bother, I'll let myself out." Tikki phased through the glass "I just pretend that works when people are scared of me."
"So you're the one who trained our Marinette to be a heroine?"
"A little. She and Chat mostly trained themselves."
Tom made a face at the idea of the unknown boy running around with his daughter. "So who is this Chat Noir under his mask?"
"I can't tell you that, Marinette doesn't even know."
"Do you?"
"Yes." Tikki giggled as though that were some great joke.
"I've heard he hits on her Ladybug all the time. I didn't think anything of it, but it changes a lot, knowing it's my daughter out there."
Tiki nodded her little red head "I understand, but you don't need to worry about it, he's a good boy. Only the most trustworthy people are chosen for a miraculous."
Tom and Sabine couldn't help but be prideful that Marinette was chosen for such a responsibility, but of course, they were still concerned for the girl who would always be their baby no matter how old she got. "Is it safe?"
"Even if she gets injured, her miraculous ladybug spell will heal her once the fight is over. She is also made more capable of self defense than most other people. Your daughter is going to be fine."
The other night, Marinette had been quite adamant about continuing her work as Ladybug. How she was the one who already knew how to do it, and was in no position to pass her responsibilities off to someone else. In the end her parents had relented, begging her to be careful.
"Please, make sure she lets us know when she's having difficulties. We don't want for her to bear this burden alone. We'd like to give our support to her and her partner, so please, keep us informed."
Tikki fluttered up to each of them and hugged their cheek. "Thank you, thank you." With that, she fluttered back up to Marinette's room.
