"How was your trip, Alya?" Marinette asked. She'd missed the blogger's presence the past week. Sure, she liked spending time with the boys, but it was undeniably nice to have her best female friend back at the table with them.
"Great!" Alya answered, after getting down a sizable bite of her lunch. "The wedding went off without a hitch." Alya and her family had gone back to Martinique for a week; some relative of some sort had gotten married.
"What's the point in that?" Adrien questioned. "Isn't the entire purpose of a wedding for the bride and groom to get hitched?"
Marinette rolled her eyes. "Come on, Adrien, you know that's not what she meant."
"You take all the fun out of it, Bugaboo!" Adrien whined playfully.
Marinette blushed; she couldn't help it. Ever since they'd learned each other's identity, she'd blushed every time her partner used one of his pet names for her. It didn't help that he now used them frequently as his civilian self, as well as his alter ego.
"Why are you two not a couple yet?" Alya asked them.
Adrien shrugged. "I don't know. We just haven't gotten around to it yet."
"I swear," Alya shook her head, "in a few years it will be the two of you getting hitched."
"I don't know," Adrien was trying hard to play it cool. "Could you really imagine Marinette and me, joined in holy catrimony?"
"It would certainly altar your relationship."
"Alya, please don't encourage him." Marinette groaned, laying her head down on the table. "I hear too many puns from him as it is. I don't need you to stir him up, and I don't need to hear more from you either."
"You don't like puns?" A wicked grin appeared on Alya's face. "Let's see if I can help you. I've already put so much effort into getting the two of you together... why, if you two got married, I'd practically be made of honor!"
"Traitor." Marinette looked over at Nino pleadingly. "Help me?"
"Think about it, dudette, it would be an emotional day for everyone. Even the cake would be in tiers!"
"Everyone in my life has betrayed me," Marinette sighed dramatically.
Adrien's face was quite pink, but he was smiling. Half of the humiliation was being dumped on him, but somehow, he found it easy to enjoy it. He bet that deep down, Marinette liked this too. "Look at that! They want to have us stuck together, meow and forever."
"What makes you think I would ever marry you?" Marinette poked him in the arm. "Maybe I would - it has a nice ring to it."
