Tell me a Joke

"Pft, that's ridiculous, but I admit it, it's funny too."

Chat was quite proud of himself. He'd just made his lady laugh, and with a joke that he'd made up himself. He'd been working on it for several evenings, right before going to sleep at night. He'd made it especially to appeal to her. It had worked! Proof he was getting to know her so well.

" I knew you'd like it." He purred.

"Oh, Chat." Ladybug rolled her eyes as they came to rest on a building at the end of their patrol route. "Looks like that's it, see you tomorrow?"

"I'll look forward to it." He grinned goofily as he watched her swing away.

The next day at school Alya was absent, so Marinette spent break with Adrien and Nino, as they were the next closest people to her. She was being too quiet for Adrien's liking. He knew she could carry out a normal conversation with Nino, she just needed to loosen up a bit around him. He racked his brain, looking for some way to get her to loosen up. "Marinette, can you tell us a joke?"

Marinette was at a loss for words, but she couldn't just leave Adrien hanging. She told the first joke that came into her mind, Chat's from the night before.

Adrien couldn't help but feel disappointed. He'd worked so hard to come up with it, but it turned out that joke was already in circulation. Even if it wasn't his though, it was still pretty good. "Pft, that's ridiculous, but it's funny too!"

Marnette nodded enthusiastically. "That's what I said when I first heard it!"

"Who told it to you?" Adrien asked.

"... A friend." Marinette responded elusively.

Adrien and Marinette laughed, Nino looked down, suddenly feeling like a third wheel. " I don't get it." He said.
