A/n - Songfics aren't generally my cup of tea, so I'm not sure why I was inspired to write one of my own. It's just really cute in my head. Hopefully it can be somewhere near as cute typed out. The song takes place in a different time period and country than Miraculous, so inconsistency might be an issue in this one.

Early each day to the steps of Saint Paul's

The little old bird woman comes

Miss Bustier's class walked around the church, their assignment to observe the old architecture and paintings from the time of the church's construction. Did the paintings seem consistent with what they'd been reading in class?

In her own special way to the people she calls,

"Come, buy my bags full of crumbs;

An old woman sat on the stone steps outside the church, gray pigeons flocking to settle all around her - even on top of her floppy black hat. Adrien watched them, like a cat through a pane of glass. He was entranced - but he knew he couldn't get too close.

Come feed the little birds,

Show them you care

And you'll be glad if you do

The woman called out to passersby, trying to get them to buy one of the bags of breadcrumbs she'd prepared for the birds.

The young ones are hungry

Their nests are so bare

All it takes is tuppence from you

The old woman tried to appeal to people's compassion for her avian friends, and it was working on Adrien. "I know what a bare nest feels like," he muttered to himself, truly feeling sorry for the birds.

Feed the birds, tuppence a bag

Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag

The spare change felt like it was burning a hole into Adrien's pocket. He found himself identifying with these birds, and the old lady wasn't asking a high price. He would never even miss that little... but his allergy held him back.

Feed the birds," that's what she cries

While overhead, her birds fill the skies

He found himself walking toward the scene, his hand digging out the proper amount of change. As he got closer, a pigeon flew right past his face. "ACHOOO!!" He sneezed so hard that he dropped the money from his hand.

All around the cathedral the saints and apostles

Look down as she sells her wares

As he was on the ground locating his lost coins, he heard someone's approach and felt a presence bending down beside him and helping to gather up the coins. As he stood up, he came face to face with Marinette.

"Adrien! What do you?" The girl took a moment to compose herself. "I mean, what were you doing?"

"I wanted to feed the birds."

"I thought you were allergic to feathers?" Marinette smiled shyly as she handed back his money that she'd picked up.

Although you can't see it,

You know they are smiling

Each time someone shows that he cares

Adrien watched a pigeon walk past, far enough away that it didn't do much to worsen his already running nose. It swayed its head and neck in front of itself as in went, enabling itself to keep focus on the ground as it searched for food.

"I am, but listen to that lady's words. I feel sorry for the birds, and I want to help them!" He was touched that Marinette even cared to commit that little bit of trivia to memory. He'd only told her once, right after he sneezed on the feathered hat she'd created.

"Here." Marinette pulled out a tissue for him (which he gratefully accepted) glad to be of use to the kind boy. She felt her crush on him collapsing deeper into her being. Inclined herself toward giving, generosity was an important virtue to her. She already had known he had it in him, but seeing his empathy extending to the bourgeoisie of the bird world was an entirely new level of sweetness.

Though her words are simple and few

Listen, listen, she's calling to you

Adrien picked out the proper amount of change and slipped the rest back into his pocket, then he held out the money toward his girl friend. "Marinette, will you feed the birds on my behalf?"

"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag

Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag"

Marinette flinched as the flapping bird tried to steady itself on her arm. It wasn't quite painful, but it was a completely unfamiliar and therefore slightly uncomfortable sensation to have pigeon toenails digging into the sensitive skin on her upturned wrist. It was worth it - completely. From a safe distance away, Adrien beamed at her, his true smile. She'd do most anything to see that smile, and if it was helping in little ways like this? That was no problem at all.

A/n - I've known the film Mary Poppins for pretty much my entire life, and I proclaimed it my favorite when I was little. There's one line in this song that I misunderstood, and came up with my own interpretation for it.

All around the cathedral the snakes and oppossums

Look down as she sells her wares

Instead of stone statues made to represent figures of the Bible, I imagined predatory animals that wanted to eat the baby birds. It was only a natural assumption for a four-year-old obsessed with nature documentaries.

That also threw off the meaning of the next line.

All though you can't see it,

You know they are smiling

Each time someone shows that he cares

It wouldn't make sense for the predatory animals to be smiling that someone cared about their prey. Of course, I knew that birds couldn't physically smile, but I pictured them having that warm sentiment that goes along with it.
