Marinette's heart practically jumped into her throat when she noticed that Adrien was waving her and Alya over to where he and Nino stood. Had she been left to her own devices, she'd have probably stayed quite stationary, but luckily her best friend wouldn't allow that.
Adrien looked around the three of them with a warm expression that made Marinette's heart melt. "I've got a big secret that I need to get off my chest," he began "and you three are the people I trust most in the entire world. It's a secret that I really shouldn't tell anyone, but I can't take it anymore, will you keep it safe for me?"
All three nodded, they wanted to help Adrien in any way they could.
"Thank you!" He said, actually tearing up a bit. "I can't say it here, this is too public. Can you all come over to my house tomorrow after school? We'll have a secret party, we can all share one another's trouble without judging anyone for it. Oh, and Alya? You're invited as a friend, but not as a blogger."
Alya looked disappointed but she nodded in understanding. The other three knew she was their friend first, and wouldn't betray them for gossip.
Marinette felt an anxious flutter in her stomach. Would Adrien mind if she used this as an opportunity to confess to him? She reasoned that it wouldn't be a worse time than any other. That would be her secret for participation.
--
The next afternoon Adrien let his friends into his room and close the door. He surprised them all with a typed up document swearing secrecy on any sensitive material to be shared that day. He signed his own name to it, and then passed it around collecting their signatures on it as well. The other three felt he was overreacting a bit, but they did it for his peace of mind.
Before sat on the floor, in the same order they sat in class, except the boys were turned around to face the girls.
Adrien swallowed nervously "So, does anyone want to go first?" He paused and looked around. "Perhaps I should, since I'm the one who asked to do this after all."
His friends nodded in encouragement.
"All right, here goes nothing. I actually have two secrets to share, since the one that's been bugging me won't make any sense without the first one. Number one, I'm Chat Noir."
Marinette couldn't have looked more shocked had Adrian reached out and slapped her across the face. Her face paled incomprehensibly and her eyes became saucers. Her expression shocked her friends almost as badly as Adrien's declaration, but they mentally shrugged it off, she had a knack for being overly expressive.
"Dude, that's your lead-in?!" Nino exclamed "You're going to kill us with your next one!"
"No," Adrien shook his head. "That one probably means more to you. It's just the one I'm having trouble dealing with comes as a result of being Chat Noir. I've fallen in love with M'Lady, my partner, with Ladybug. I was really quite depressed before I met her. It helps that all of you came into my life around the same time that she did, but I just can't explain the connection I have with her. I just... know she's my soulmate. Everything is okay just when I'm with her. I know that when we grow up we're destined to marry and raise a happy family together. The problem is, she doesn't seem to see it. I need her."
Marinette's capillaries then decided to perform a one eighty and send all the blood and more rushing back to her face. Adrien was just confused. Nino and Alya, who knew about Marinette's crush, assumed she was reacting to the way he fawned over another girl. Only she, and a hidden Tikki, knew that heartbreak was the farthest thing from what she was feeling.
The secret party continued counterclockwise. Nino shared a few of what he considered his deepest and darkest, yet he knew they were no comparison to Adrien's.
