A/n - Well, now that I got my first taste of writing a songfic, I'm at it again. Certain lines in the song make it necessary for this to be post-reveal.
It was a clear, starry night in Paris, and the city's two superheroes were running across the rooftops in a routine check to make sure all was well. They'd been partners for three years today, and their hearts sang a duet as they silently reminisced.
I never had this feeling before:
She gives me shakes and shivers I can't ignore,
And I see that there's more now, than just running free.
Chat Noir looked sideways at Ladybug, who was now peering out over their beloved city. When he had first received his miraculous, it wasn't love that was on his mind. The idea of being a superhero had filled him with fantasies of escaping his father's control - a world without fences, so to speak. However, seeing Ladybug, her face framed by bangs glowing almost blue in the moonlight, he remembered how being side-by-side with his partner had easily become his favorite part of being a hero.
I never felt my heart beat so fast!
I'm thinking of him first and of myself last, and how happy I want him to be...
Ladybug spotted a shadow moving, out of the corner of her eye. It made her heart race, but not with fear. She knew it was her partner, Chat Noir, or Adrien Agreste - as that was the version of him who had first entranced her heart. Without meaning to, he made her want to go out of her way to put a smile on his face. She thought back to his first birthday after they'd met, and the handmade scarf he would probably never know was from her. A smile creased her lips - it didn't matter; seeing him happy was all the thanks she needed.
It's amazing - someone in my life just might be loving me!
I didn't know that I could feel this way.
For almost all of his life, Adrien had strongly felt the lack of human companionship. For all his life, he'd been shut up in his room, away from his parents. The situation had only grown worse with the disappearance of his mother. He still longed for the embrace of his family, but someone had come along and taken a huge chunk out of his loneliness, replacing it with a much brighter feeling. This girl, Ladybug, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, had somehow gotten to know the real boy he'd been trained to hide. He could feel the love she'd cultivated for him. Love she was unable to, or simply didn't bother to hide. Either way, he was grateful.
It's so crazy - something in my life is better than a dream.
I didn't know that I could feel this way.
At first, her feelings had felt like nothing more than a dream. How many girls came to like the handsome rich boy with manners? No, life didn't work that way. Yet, then she'd found herself in the distinctive position of being his partner. Why the perfect boy would want a relationship with her was beyond her, but she'd seen the affection in his eyes when he looked at her. His feelings matched her own.
She makes me warm and happy inside.
The cold Agreste home seemed a long way away at the moment. Much closer was a sweet girl who faintly smelled of bread and cakes, that when fresh out of the oven, were just as warm as she.
He smiles and I get dizzy and starry eyed.
Ladybug couldn't resist taking another loving glance at her partner. This time she was embarrassed when he caught her, but was soon disarmed by his beaming expression. She felt herself take an involuntary sharp breath as her eyes met his.
All these feelings I have, have me asking "Can this be love?"
Can this be love?
'Can this be love?' They were daring the question, if only within their own minds. About a foot away, each saw fear mingled with excitement in the other's eyes.
It's crazy - I can hardly speak, whenever he/she says "Hi!"
Marinette had always been tongue-tied in front of her love interest; that was nothing new, but this time it was something different. No more was she worried whether or not he would accept her feelings; it was more of a... what now?
I didn't know that I could feel...
I never dreamed that I could feel...
I didn't know that I could feel this... way.
At the end of their patrol route, the heroes sat side by side; their hands were interlaced between them, their heads resting against each other. This could be... love?
