"Ert, ert, ert, ert."

"I'M AWAKE!" Adrien yelled, slamming his fist down on his alarm clock. It was ten o'clock; he had to be at Marinette's house at eleven. He'd hardly slept the night before - he was too excited. Today was the day he was going to have his very first date with his new girlfriend.

'She's not my girlfriend - yet,' he reminded himself. He'd only asked her to be his date for the day, but if it went well (and he was determined that it would) he would be sure to secure an official label for their relationship.

He rushed around his bedroom, getting ready as fast as he could despite the fact that he wasn't behind schedule at all. He was just feeling too nervous and hyper to slow down. Finally, he stopped and looked in the mirror. "No, not good enough," he said aloud. "Not good enough for her, at least."

Marinette wasn't one of those girls who liked him only for his looks. He knew and appreciated that about her, but it only fueled his desire to impress her. He did want her to be physically attracted to him as well, and he would try his best for her.

"Kid, if you make her any more attracted to you than she already is her heart is, going to beat so fast it will burst!"

"I - ah..." Adrien sighed. "I just like her so much! I don't know what to do. I can hardly believe she agreed to go out with me; I have to make the best impression I possibly can!"

"She's just as crazy about you, therefore you have nothing to worry about," Plagg retorted calmly.

"I know," Adrien felt yet another sigh rise from his chest as he rested his head against the wall. "But, no matter what I tell myself, I can't seem to calm down. This is serious. If we do dating right it could affect the rest of our lives!"

"I'm glad kwami don't have to worry about that. Only mortal creatures have the urge to bond with a member of the opposite gender for the good of their species."

"Plagg!" Adrien whined. "I was not thinking about that, and I don't need to be thinking about that on my date! I just want to enjoy some quality time with her."

Tom stuck his head out of the kitchen when he heard the bell on the front door ring. Unsurprisingly, it was Adrien Agreste, the boy who as of late could not stay away from the baker's daughter. "Someone's eager," Tom laughed. "You're ten minutes early, and you're out of breath. Did you run all the way here?"

Adrien checked the time on his phone. It was true; he was eleven minutes and two seconds early as of that moment. It was a bad show - he didn't want to alarm his crush or her family by his lack of restraint.

"Huh, huh, yeah, huh, I've been, huh, anticipating this so much, huh, that I hardly slept, huh, huh, last night," Adrien admitted, gasping for breath between every few words. "I'm feline purrty pu, huh, nchy today."

"Marinette didn't sleep well last night either - what did you do to my daughter to make her so nervous?"

"I didn't do anything to her!" Adrien defended himself. "I know she's gotten nervous around me as long as I've known her, and I don't understand why!"

"She's nervous because she likes you. She thinks you're a pretty great guy. You'd better not do anything to change that impression of hers, hmm?" Tom raised an eyebrow, playfully threatening the teen.

"Yes sir!" Adrien took it completely seriously. His preferred girl considered him good enough to give a shot at her heart; he couldn't mess this up.

A while later, Sabine came downstairs. "I finally got Marinette out of bed," she reported. "She's asleep on her feet, but she's getting ready. She doesn't want to miss this day for anything."
