"Ladybug, Chat Noir, please, find my son, I beg of you!" a woman cried out to the superheroes.

The teenage partners exchanged looks of determination. It wasn't the first time they had filled a request like this. Even with the akuma defeated and damage repaired, Ladybug's magic didn't help people who had gotten lost in the panic. Small children seemed particularly vulnerable. Ladybug and Chat Noir had guided several back to parents, elementary teachers, or whomever else might have been in charge at the time of disappearance.

They accepted the woman's request without hesitation. After separating a short while to refresh their kwamies, they regrouped to hunt for the child - not thinking much of their mission until they found the children. Two of them - obviously brothers.

One of the boys cowered against the wall of a building while the other showed no fear at all, coming up and grabbing Chat by a clawed finger. "That - that's my brother." He proudly stated the obvious to the superhero in black.

Surprise flashed across Chat's face - not at all from what he'd been told, but from the child's unexpected gregarious approach. He looked over to Ladybug, silently asking her for help. She spread her arms in an 'I don't know' gesture, and he thought she looked rather amused at his situation. It was rather amusing; he smiled down at the little boy. "Oh, is he?"

"Yeah! And I'm - I'm his big brother. I was born two minutes before him." Chat paid attention to the child as he imparted the facts he deemed most important.

Seeing as her partner didn't have much of an idea how to escape a talkative child, Ladybug stepped in. "We're looking for a little boy called Jean, do you know where he is?"

"He's Jean," the little boy pointed at his brother. "I'm Marcus, and he's Chat Noir, I've seen him on TV!" He pulled on Chat's finger which he had still failed to relinquish.

"Yes, I know Chat well. Do you know who I am?"

The child looked thoughtful. "You're a bug. When my mommy sees a bug she screams for my daddy to squash it with a newspaper."

Ladybug frowned. The children usually loved her! Their fans generally favored her to Chat, so it was nice to see someone giving him attention for once, but that didn't mean the kid's dismissiveness of her didn't hurt. 'He's what? Three?' she reminded herself. She'd keep her mouth shut and let Chat have his moment.

When the heroes returned to the distraught mother, she rushed to collect the quiet, shivering boy from Ladybug's arms. "Oh, Jean, there you are. I've been so worried about you. It's okay, Maman is here, come to Maman."

Jean immediately curled into his mother with a whimper. "Maman, I was so scared."

"I know, I know," she petted her son's hair affectionately.

"Madame," Chat broke in, "you asked us to look for Jean, but how come you never mentioned Marcus? We found both of the boys in the same place. Did you not lose them together?" he inquired on behalf of the child still perched atop his shoulders.

The woman's eyes flicked up to her other son with a look of rage that took both heroes aback. "Where have you been, you naughty boy?! You should have been looking out for your brother! He's fragile!"

"But Mère, Mère, I did! The akuma came out of nowhere and it - and it grabbed us! Chat Noir came and rescued us!"

"What?!" The mother was glowering now. "Only Chat Noir? Now how about Ladybug - was she there?!" Her tone suddenly became silky smooth as she switched to her other son. "Jean, tell Maman, was Ladybug there too?"

"Yes, Maman." Jean answered meekly.

The boys' mother growled as she faced Marcus once again. "Thank Ladybug too, you ungrateful brat!"
