"I can't see anything." You said to Zane, who was lying next to you. His frowning face told you that he couldn't see anything either.

In the black sky, there was nothing but the half moon and a few thin clouds. It was really disappointing.

You knew that you couldn't see the stars that well from the ground, what with all the air pollution and such. But usually, a few stars would shine through.

"We really should have done this whole 'romantic-looking-at-the- stars-while-contemplating-life- thing' on the Bounty." You said, remembering your first time on the flying ship at night. There had been so much light in the sky, it wasn't even black. It was a  beautiful navy blue.

You heard the ice ninja shift in the grass besides you, muttering something about grass stains as he nodded in agreement.

You both lay in silence for a moment, occasionally cringing at the sour piano notes coming from inside. Your mom decided to take up the piano, oddly. Why? You had no clue. Your dad said since you graduated last month, she's been kind of going through a midlife crisis. And since she wouldn't have you to look after soon, she decided to distract herself with Mozart.

It really wasn't going well. It sounded like she was playing with screwdrivers taped to her fingers.

"It sounds better than last time." Zane commented. "Last time it sounded like as if she was taking a hammer to the keys."

She actually did almost do just that, after getting frustrated with a certain piece she was learning to play. Luckily, your dad was sensible enough to stop her.

Unluckily, your mom struggled and accidentally dropped said hammer on his foot. He was still limping four days later.

Your dad was also sensible enough to put a lock on his tool box soon after.

But you decided Zane shouldn't know how crazy your mom actually was, and just said "a perfect image for the sound."

Your boyfriend just looked at you, smiling as if he knew you were thinking of your mom shrieking with a hammer.

Zane had a way with knowing while not really knowing. Even when you're far apart, he seemed to be in tuned with your thoughts. Sometimes scarily so.

You wondered if reading minds is something nindroids could do.

Zane chuckled. "I know what you're thinking y/n. No, I can't read thoughts. You've asked multiple times."

Have you?

"Yes." The ice master said, seeing the look of thought on your face. "Yes, you have. And you've been saying everything out loud for the past five minutes. I am not reading your mind."

Zane sat up, and you did the same, stretching after the almost two hours you'd spent lying in the grass next to your boyfriend.

You winced again at the broken sound coming from inside, and swore you could see the notes ripping into two.

"I don't think it's safe to go inside yet." You said.

Zane nudged you with his shoulder. "Give her some credit. Learning an instrument is not that easy."

You beg to differ. You could play a mean tambourine. And it only took you three days to get such skill.

You watched as the white ninja stood up fully, brushing off the grass on his pants, muttering something about grass stains and how he shouldn't let Lloyd get a hold of his laundry again.

He offered you a hand, and, still not knowing what he was talking about, you took it.

"Well" you said, turning to go to the house. "Lets go see if we can get mom to take a break long enough for us to eat some brownies in peace."
