*Lucy's POV*

AS I WALKED TO THE GRYFFINDOR TABLE, JAMES decided to speak first.

"Wow the hat really took its time with you," he said, "Almost long enough for a hatstall."

"As I said, James, the sorting hat was debating with itself what house I should be in. Wasn't exactly the best conversation I've had." I said.

About to say something, Sirius was quickly interrupted by Dumbledores voice.

"Let the feast begin!"

"And here is the common room, the password is, patentibus. " The fat lady swung open.

"It looks so cozy...." said Peter.

The prefects showed us the dormitories and sent us to sleep. I sat down on the bed that had my belongings on the side.

I went ahead and wrote a letter to my parents telling them which house I got to.

Although they had been in Ilvermony, for the last two years they had come to Hogwarts and had been placed in Ravenclaw and Slytherin.

Getting my sleepwear, I walked over to the bathroom to see a girl with dark red hair come out of it.

"Hi, I'm Lily Evans," she introduced herself.

"Lucy Ross," I told her, "Nice to meet you Lily."

"Nice to meet you too, Lucy."

A few minutes later we were in the dorm, trying to sleep. Her bed was on my left so it was pretty near.

"Lily?" I said because I was bored and couldn't sleep.

"Yeah?" She asked.

"Do you want a chocolate frog?" I said.

Lily hesitated, "Um I guess so."

I threw one to her bed and ate one myself, "Who did you get?"

"Bertie Botts, apparently the creator of Bertie Botts Every Flavour Bean," She replied. "You?"

"Cassandra Vablatsky, a celebrated Seer."

"We have classes tomorrow," Lily said, "We'd better go to sleep.

"You're right, night Lily."

"Goodnight, Lucy."

The next morning everyone was getting the letters their parents had written, in celebration of the previous day.

"Hello." I said as I sat down with James and Sirius, Remus and Peter were on the other side.

"Hey."

"Hello."

"I wasn't talking to you, you moron."

"Hey!"

This was an argument in which Sirius and James were having. Peter shifted uncomfortably next to Remus and Remus looked irritated.

"Can you guys shut up?" said Remus.

"Wow Remus you're in a pretty bad mood today aren't you?" Teased James.

Suddenly, the family owl swooped down and gave me my letter. Giving it a bit of bread, it left.

Dear Lucy,

Nicely done getting Gryffindor, I just hope you aren't too reckless. Your mother says she's proud on you getting Gryffindor but she really wanted you to get in Slytherin. Don't say a word of this to her but she was thinking of setting you up for marriage in a pureblood family.

Hoping you have a nice day,
Dad and Mom.

James then got his letter, then Peter, then Remus, then Sirius.

I didn't get to read it much but it said something about "You are such a disappointment to this family!" And "I cannot believe you!" And whatnot.

When he finished reading he got up and left. I went ahead and did the same to go follow him because I could've sworn that I had seen some tears in his eyes.

When I got up James got my arm and said, "Leave him alone. He needs space."

In which I responded by ignoring him and trying to find Sirius. I found him by the lake sitting there, lonely, looking into the lake. "Hey." I said when I caught up to him,

"Oh," he sniffled, "Hey."

"Are you alright?"

"Yes."

"Then why do you look so sad?" I asked stubbornly.

"Well, it's not a question of which I'm sad I got into Gryffindor, I'm stoked really. It's just that my parents really aren't. I expected them to send this letter but I can't help but let it go to my head. I've lived with this for my entire life but it's just the worst."

"Yeah, I get what you mean," I told him.

By the time James, Remus, and Peter had caught up to us he had calmed down.

"Hey," James said, "I asked McGonagall for your schedules." He handed them to us.

"Thanks." said Sirius.

"Thank you." I said. Remus, Sirius, James, and me had Potions, (with the Slytherins.) and poor Peter had been freaking out because he had Herbology without anyone he knew.

In second period all of us had Astronomy, honestly I think I was the one that was most interested in Astronomy.

I was a total 'nerd' to Sirius and James, but I could say the same to Sirius as he looked rather interested.

Peter was, well, quiet and not really interested in the subject, while Remus just paid attention.

Sitting under a tree I heard James conclude his whole fucking book.

"....and that's how I'm going to win the Quidditch World Cup." said James.

"Wow James," I said with a sarcastic tone, running my hands through Sirius' hair.

"No one cares." Sirius said, while Remus was reading a book.

"What are you reading Remus?"

"Nothing." Remus said, quickly shutting his book.

"Let me see," Sirius said.

"Come on mate!" James told him trying to get the book.

So naturally, Remus threw the book into the lake and said, "It's nothing if I don't mind throwing it to the lake."

But the title had something of Lycanthropy.

~*~

"You'll have to turn the book into a bird, a raven to be exact. You'll just have to not necessarily tap it but do it 3 times and say, Incante Urfilius. Try it now."

As I walked out of the class with Remus, I saw in his book bag, the same book he had previously thrown into the lake.
