Chapter 34, Birthdays and Bullshit.

*Lucys POV*

    I just couldn't anymore. I didn't need more lies.

  The day started out normal, we sang happy birthday to Sirius, and we all waited for the result while I ran out of the hall. I had turned Sirius' hair gold and he thanked me for it. We then had a snowball fight with Prongs, Moony, Wormtail, Lily, Padfoot, and a girl named Marlene. It was the best day ever.

  Two weeks later it was my birthday and Lily sang happy birthday along with the rest of the Marauders. We all waited for the reveal and my hair turned sky blue.

"I'll kill you black!" I yelled at Sirius, "Whatever Lumos!" When he let me catch him he said, "Happy Birthday Lums." "Thank you Pads." Like usual, well not really, we had a snowball fight. Same people, same competitive mood.

We got cleaned up and James was hogging the shower. You could hear the banging of Sirius and Moony telling him to hurry up.
Thank god I showered first.
Told you so.
I went into the common room and saw an owl pecking the glass, he had a letter from Mrs. Potter and it was to James. I went inside the dorm.

"Oi! Prongs an owl arrived from your mom!" "Don't open it!" I left it on his bed and he shortly came out and opened the letter in only an towel. As soon as he got out Sirius rushed in so Moony was still waiting for it.

I saw his eyes scan the paper over and over again, taking each word again until I saw tears spill from his eyes.

"James whats wrong?" I asked. He just handed me the letter, lost for words.

Dear James,
Your dad passed away yesterday. I'm sorry,

I couldn't bother to read more of letter before throwing it to the ground and hugging James more tears spilling out of my eyes. His dad had been a bit of my favorite uncle these past few years. Moony read the letter and said, "I'm so sorry Prongs."

He shook his head, changed, and went to the common room. Moony and I were both speechless but we silently agree that he needed some time to be alone. Padfoot came out like an hour later and Moony rushed in. As soon as he saw me he asked what was wrong. I pointed to the letter which was still on the ground. He read it over and over and over again, just like James had.

"I'm so sorry Sirius." I hugged him and he cried into my shoulder. After a while, he decided to go to the kitchens and Moony had decided that he needed sleep.

James came in and I saw that it was already 12 and Padfoot hadn't been back.

"James can I borrow the cloak?" He nodded and gave it to me with a weak smile. "Thanks."

I rushed to the kitchens and silently opened the painting. Except for the giggling pear of course. I stopped dead in my tracks and saw that Sirius was devouring Marlene with a bottle of fire whiskey in the other hand. I didn't care that he was drunk. He had promised.

"BULLSHIT!" I yelled at him, "ALL OF THAT WAS JUST BULLSHIT!"
I hexed him and ran out. I heard the house elves running to his aid, while I ran to the Astronomy tower. I cried there for at least an hour.

"Why?" I whispered over and over again. I tugged on my hair when I realized, my hair. I ran to the nearest bathroom and tried every spell I could remember to try to get the color out.

I ran to the dorm and Prongs quickly saw me run to the bathroom without closing the door and heard frustrated yells. My mascara had been ruined, my heart had been broken and I was crying on the floor when Prongs had come in.

"Lums are you— are you ok?" "No James! Go away!" He left closing the door and left me to cry. I cut my hair so it was up to my shoulders instead of all the way to the back. Prongs came back after 20 minutes and took my hair color out. He asked what was wrong but I simply gave him the cloak and said, "I just saw what I needed to see."

*Third Person POV*

"Hey," said a hungover Padfoot seeing a certain Prongs, "I woke up in an room with Marlene and ran out before she saw me." "Did you cheat on her?" James said furiously. Padfoots eyes widened in terror of what he had done.

"James. Oh my god! James." Padfoot said, Prongs took him outside to the court yard and started to yell at him, "Do you know how she came in crying, frantically trying to get the color out? How she even resorted to cutting her hair?" Padfoot looked close to crying when he realized what he had done.

And they had no idea how hard he hurt her.

*Lucys POV*

As soon as I was sure that they were gone I grabbed what I needed and ran to the bathroom. I just couldn't anymore. I didn't need more lies. A few scars had been added in a minute. I recognized that this was going to end me, and I was waiting for it gladly. And after a few more minutes, I collapsed and blacked out.

*Third Person POV*

Moony had found her, quickly acting because she was in a pool of her own blood, and her eyes looked lifeless. He quickly carried her bridal style and ran out to the hospital wing, people gasping. Lily had seen her and helped Remus seek James and Sirius.

Lily hadn't seen Marlene all day so it was her task to find her.

Madame Pomfrey looked at her horrified with a Remus Lupin who was pleading at her to save her. When Lily finally found James and Sirius fighting she frantically yelled at them. James' heart sank to the floor and ran to the hospital wing. Sirius felt as if this were a vivid nightmare, but ran even quicker than James.

A yelling and crying Remus had been taken out off the hospital wing by Professor McGonagall who looked just as distressed. Sirius quickly came with James and Moony both yelling at him, with Lily and Professor McGonagall as bystanders. They broke into a cry halfway through being close to just punching him. Lily hadn't noticed the blood from the fight that Sirius had and a bruise that James had.

They had all calmed by an hour even though Remus and James were still glaring at a guilty Sirius. Lily went ahead and went to find Marlene still not knowing anything.

After 2 painful hours of waiting, Madame Pomfrey came out. "She's still recovering, but she won't wake anytime soon." She let them all visit and tended to Sirius' and James' bruises and cuts.

They had gone to get something to eat except for Sirius.

"I'm so sorry," he pleaded holding her hand, her bandaged hands and wrists. "All I want now is to erase that mistake because you wouldn't be here if it weren't for me." He stopped for a moment to see her. She looked like Sleeping Beauty. "God, I'm so sorry."

Lily came in with Marlene, and Sirius stood up.

"Get the fuck out of here Marlene." He said firmly, his eyes red. Lily looked confused, "What why?" "Because she did this to her." "And so did you." Marlene spat back. Sirius felt like killing her in the spot. "Marlene don't say that," Lily quickly said, "You're right, I did, but I couldn't have done without you."

Lily got Marlene out and Sirius explained. "You stupid git Sirius! Do you know how much she cared!? How much she loved you?!" Sirius just covered his face crying.

They came back and saw that. Prongs could see that he really did care for her just like she did for him. How did he know?

He had never cried.
