Chapter 42, Lily and Moony.

*Lucys POV*

                                                  

The full moon was this week, which meant we didn't see much of Moony today. You see, after and a bit before the full moon, well of course, he actually gets sick, and, his senses heighten. This means that he can't bare to go to the Great Hall, Potions class, and anything that affects him. Madame Pomfrey also doesn't let him anymore. Long story. Anyways, today was also Quidditch tryouts. And I needed to help him.

Turns out, we had a new beater and 2 new chasers. This group was act pretty good, considering last year they were all doofuses. James had head boy rounds each Thursday, Saturday, and Tuesdays if I'm correct. Guess which day the full moon was. A Thursday. Of course. I figured Padfoot and I could handle him even if Moony went insane, but Prongs sweared he'd be here.

It wasn't for another day anyway. The day before it happened, at night, Sirius climbed into my bed. As a dog of course. I immediately knew that he have had a nightmare, he would have them quite spontaneously. I tapped him and signaled to go outside. We always did this, go to the hideout, go inside my nook, talk about the dream, and then eventually fall asleep in each other's arms.

We entered and Padfoot turned back, his eyes watery. "Are you alright?" I asked him, he only hugged me in return. "Hey, calm down, it was just a dream." I told him, patting him on the back.

"It seemed so real." He managed to choke out. "But it's fine now," I said pointing to us, the tower, "We're alright." I wiped his tears with my sleeve and comforted him.

Once I had managed to calm him down, he said, "You're the best at this. Calming people." Padfoot said, looking at me with puppy eyes. "And you are the best person. Even though you came from the wrong family."

"Am I ok?" He asked me, his eyes fuller than ever, "I still see the scars from the punishments they gave me, and- and," Sirius said, his voice starting to crack, "Shh." I interrupted, "That's in the past. You're not with them now, or ever. You'll always have us, you know that right?"

He nodded, and I wiped a tear that had managed to escape. "It's all right." I said softly, "And you are ok. You're just a person who bad things have happened to. Ok?" He nodded again, and he fell asleep, hugging me.

"Oi! Lovebirds! Wake up!" Prongs yelled at us. "What day is it?" "It's today." James replied sarcastically. Padfoot scoffed and we changed clothes. We rushed to the Great Hall and saw that there was only a few students left. As well as a tired Professor McGonagall.

  "Our first class is Transfiguration!" I said in a rushed whisper, "Run!" We ended up taking a short cut and ending up in the class 20 seconds before Minnie. We shrugged it off, and the day went normally.

   We left James' cloak for him, even though he might not even use it. We had all changed into our animagus form so that we could hear someone coming easier. Also so that nobody could see us. We saw Madame Pomfrey rush out and we waited until the coast was clear. As usual, Wormtail pushed the knot and we went in. Moony had calmed down by, about 11pm? Anyways I was keeping guard just incase anyone came in or just to see when Prongs would come when I heard a thudding noise. It wasn't that heavy though.

"Evans what are you doing here?" I heard James say.
"You rushed out of the common room! You couldn't except me not to follow!" Lily snapped back.
"Just go back into the castle!" James said.
"What about you?!" Lily asked Prongs.
"I'll be fine! Just go!" James said in an rushed whisper.

  By now, Moony had heard them, and was standing incredibly still. Padfoot had heard them as well and was looking at me, with eyes that told me to be careful. I moved forward and Moony howled, me knowing that was his sign to attack.

  Padfoot turned back, "Over here you moron!" He yelled at the werewolf, making Moony go after him. I bit him, as to control him, but he was more stronger, especially when agitated.

  Lily and Prongs were still bickering when I heard Lily say a final, "Ok I'll go!" Padfoot had turned back to a dog, and Moony went straight for Lily and James.

  He ran, me and Padfoot just behind him. Moony had finally arrived to where they were, baring his teeth making Lily shriek. James threw himself on top of her, as to protect her from being bitten, when I jumped in front of him, still in my animagus form. And in that very moment, the split moment where I knew that Moony was going to bite them, I was able to protect them.

  I yelped, because let me tell you this, it hurt like hell. I was just hoping that I wouldn't turn to a werewolf. Padfoot started to take care of Moony, which meant that Lily, Prongs, and me, could make an escape leaving Padfoot to take care of it. Wormtail too I guess.

  "Why in the world are you taking that wolf?" Lily asked him, "It's only going to slow us down!" James kept on running, "This 'wolf' is an animagus Evans!"

  "So the dog was one too?! Who are they?" "Lucy and Sirius."

Once we had made it to the common room, James had tried to heal me. My back was stinging, hurting, and frankly my eyelids were starting to feel heavy.

  "Can you turn back?" Prongs asked me, "Lucy are you awake?" I nodded slightly, and tried to turn back. When I did, it started to hurt more, if it was possible. My eyes were starting to feel watery.

  "This is going to sting ok?" He told me, and healed me. I had to hold back a scream, my tears spilling out. "I'll try to break in to the hospital wing to bring more supplies," James told me, "I'll be right back."

He rushed off, and I started to sob. I knew this wasn't Remus' fault but it still hurt, even more than when I was hit by a bludger in my head. About 10 minutes later, James came back in with Lily right behind him. Both of their arms full of things, and Lily handed things to James who was trying to heal me. I fell asleep halfway through, although, I think Lily put me in different clothes, with magic.
