only manage to do a short
It has been almost two weeks since you took on this mission to protect Talon's healer and head scientist, Moira O'Deorain. Perhaps it was less of a mission, you thought with a sigh, and more of a new full time job.
Now every time the woman wanted to leave the base, it was required you go anywhere she like without question. Which, of course, seemed rather unfair. The woman was eccentric, always talking to herself about her discoveries or her next project. Sometimes she would mutter to herself in a dark, spiteful tone, and the only snippets you could make out were about Overwatch.
And sometimes, more often then in the first few days, Moira would give you a friendly smile and converse as the two of you moved from place to place. Of course, you were required to speak back if that was what she wanted.... or so you told yourself.
More and more though, you found yourself engaging fully into the conversations that she started. The woman, though crazy, was intelligent and shockingly, had a bit of humor to her. It was pleasant to watch her as she spoke passionately, or to see a soft, almost human smile curve her lips when she spoke of something fondly.
The woman drove you crazy with her questions and her recklessness pursuit for necessary items that may or may not help her work. Her innate ability to handle criticism frustrated you, as did the way one moment she could be cursing the world like some mad woman under her breath and the next she could be smiling, as bright as a daisy.
And you...were beginning to fall for her.
The thought echoed in your mind as you glanced at her in the corner of your eye, where she sat in the passenger seat staring out the window with narrow eyes full of judgement and mischief. The world was full of possibilities, and Moira was determined to expose them all.
You're falling in love with a lunatic, you told yourself as your fingers tightened on the wheel. How ridiculous was that?
The worst part...was that Moira was not capable of returning such feelings. It had nothing to do with you. Moira O'Deorain was a brilliant scientist who loved her work more then humanity. All she craved from humanity was to be accepted for her brilliance and both appreciated and feared for her creations.
Other then that, Moira could never properly love another human being. Her work was everything to her, and would always be. You could respect that, though strangely it only made you like her more.
"What are you looking at, darling?" Moira asked, having caught you peeking at her. Her eyes, both unique with one being brown and one being blue, appraised you with cool interest.
For a moment you just kept driving, wondering how she would react if you just blurted your growing feelings for her. Likely, it would become a new pet project to see how much it could endure. That, and you might become a pet.
Still, you couldn't help the smile that tugged at the corner of your lips. The woman really was rather fascinating.
"Just appreciating how brilliant you are as a scientist. Not a bad looker either," you said, before turning your attention to the road.
Moira actually looked quite pleased with herself. "I see. I do tend to have that effect on people," she said, idly glancing over her long, claw-like purple nails. The look on her face was that of forced disinterest, but her eyes gave her away as to how pleased she was with the compliment.
Rolling your eyes, all you answered is, "You sure do."
