Shane pulled a thick book down from the shelves of the Greenhaven library. Book dates had become a thing for him and Conor. Since Conor couldn't read Shane would read aloud to him and soon it was one of their date plans.
Shane placed the thick book on the desk and smiled at Conor "Feel like fairy tales?" he asked.
Conor smiled "Any book you read to me is just fine," he replied.
They kissed briefly then turned to the book. Shane flipped open the first page and the book erupted into light "WHAT THE-" Shane yelped as the light path wrapped over his wrist. Shane jerked away and the bright veins twisted violently bringing him closer "Con-" he couldn't finish as the light consumed him.
Conor darted to grab Shane but the veins took him into the light as well, Conor vanished screaming.
The book slammed shut and rested on the table. A greencloak leaned over from a book shelf but shrugged seeing only a black bound book.
The couple felt the changes overcome their bodies. Conor felt like he was getting larger and breaking bones as he took a new shape entirely. Shane felt the magic prod his mind and changed him slightly into new clothes and a new mind. His memories being changed and twisted around. Where were they going? What was this book and its magic doing to them? Shane reached out when he saw the larger figure in the light and he couldn't remember who it was. He needed to remember, they were important to him somehow. Shane blacked out as the world erupted into light and he felt his back hit a plush bed.
